This is a desperate attempt I know, but I've been trying to track down my 1979 Corvette that I sold years ago. It was my first Corvette and I would love to find it, possibly buy it back, or at least know it's still around.
1979 L48 automatic. It was painted black, but was originally red, mirror t-tops, black interior. It was last sold by Rex Winn in Quincy, IL on June 22, 2001. Rex had taken the car to Bloomington Gold and he found a buyer. Rex brought the car back to Quincy and the buyers came to Quincy and picked up the car. Rex gave me pictures of the buyers with the car on June 22, 2001.
This is a long shot I know... I don't have the VIN any longer, and I don't know the license plates I had on the car otherwise I could have the DMV track it down. The insurance company doesn't have records back that far for me neither does the credit union that I financed the car through. I'm hoping the current owner of the '79 is a member here and will see this and contact me.
Wish me luck... or if you are the current owner, or have info, please contact me. brettwhite72@yahoo.com

Update: I got to looking at the pictures of the guy's who picked up the car in Quincy (2001), The truck they used to haul the trailor with the car on it has a name and number on the tailgate. Randy's Body and Repair 608-325-3630 The phone number is no longer in service... Anybody know Randy? The 608 area code and 325 prefix is a Monroe, Wisconsin phone number....
Any help would be appreciated.

It might be worth a try at your Dept. of Motor Vehicles.
Ask them if they could do a history of vehicles registered in your name. If you got a "hit", the VIN and plate # should be included.
Keep us posted.
Kevin
P.S. My '79 was originally blue.

Thank you all for wishing me luck on this search... every time I get a little lead on it then I'm stumped for a while. I would love to have my "first born" back.
