VettesVette, My buddy had a 64 1/2 10.5:1 comp 289 pony that was the same power plant as the 65 Hi-Pro I think....
It was real fast
I have a few cop buddies; they all claim that they rarely bother vettes. One told me once that the general conception is that if you have a vette you’re a better than average driver and don’t go around running people off the road and banging into stuff. So they usually just look the other way, might be true. This is the first time I have ever been pulled over in either vette.
I don’t know if its true but I heard somewhere that vettes account for the lowest tickets per car than any other widely distributed car.

I think the general perception of vettes is that the owner is an older guy.. seeing someone young driving one is relatively rare..
the age survey taken here shows how skewed vette ownership is towards the 40+ crowd..
Now that antique vettes cost some cash to keep in shape and looking nice.. The older guy image is reinforced..
I imagine that a cop is much more likely to stop a kid driving a 99 stang than a middle age guy driving a 79 vette.

Or us "old geezers". Age has it's advantages
As for the $ aspect of vette ownership...
I have two vettes and combined I have much less invested than those kids driving some jap tuner cars.
A while back I read an article in the local fish wrapper that interviewed a tuner kid with a mazda. He claims to have over 50K invested in this thing that couldnt keep up with $9,000 81 much less my fire- breathin $8,000 87.
Oh ya, and his car looks silly and makes funny sounds.

And the best part is his "rice rocket" is depreciating every year, while the 'vette just keeps going up!

I have a 75 convertible and have never been stopped.
(followed on a number of occasions) I don't drive crazy
with it, but I don't stay below the speed limit either.
I also have a 94 Supra TT. I've been stopped in it a couple
of times for little or no reason. I haven't received a
ticket (yet!!), but it's like driving a speeding ticket
waiting to happen. Usually after they see I'm not some
teenager, they don't give me a hard time.
