Well, after having my vette for 5 years now, I took my first real road trip. We traveled from Red Lion Pa to Ocean City Maryland last night for the Free State Vette weekend. Trip was about 175 miles, weather was not what I was hoping for as the roads were wet the whole way down. I thought about not going. Good news was I didnt hit any rain the entire way. I worried about how the car would do as I have never had it out on the highway before. We got on RT1 which is a 65 MPH speed limit and the wife was supposed to follow me down thru, however since she had easy pass and the vette didnt she took off and I never caught up. At 65 I was taching 2500 RPM's and didnt want to push it any harder. I was surprised at how smooth it ran. We arrived in OC around 10:30 PM. I finally caught up with her as she said she had to poke around waiting! No problems at all. Wow did I feel great! Went this morning to fill up and check the gas mileage (not that it mattered but was just curious). 17.1 MPG!! I was expecting 12. Weather today is really nice as is the weekend supposed to be. Cant wait for the show tomorrow and to see all the vettes! Trip home will be Sunday and I am feeling much better about being out on the road in the Vette!

That's what I'm talkin about right there!
What a rush, eh? Glad you were able to make the trip, and have a little fun with the car. Hope the weekend turns out as nice as the run up there!

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
I know what you mean. Mine is not running as I would like but I did have it out for a 75 mile round trip once and if I take it to church it usually takes me an hour or more to get home by the time I get done running it. I live 5 minutes from church by the way. My speedometer reads fast by about 8 mph at 70 so I max the speedometer rather quickly. I so much wants to run fast.
