It's an L-48 auto, what's a fair price?  It's on a small lot here in town. I didn't get the milage, but the paint is nice and the interior isn't too bad, new steering wheel and seat covers would work wonders.  I'm going back to see it again today.

Get all the info you can and we will see what you got to work with.Pace cars bring good money even if they have the L48 auto option.Look at the frame REAL GOOD I mean real good. All so look for anything that a bubba might have done. The more you can tell us the better we can figure out what you have. You said it's on a used car lot?

Yeah, it's on a small mom and pop lot here in my town.  I think it's a southern car, needs some weatherstripping, and appears to have been re-painted recently.  The body is straight, and the paint shiny.  Tires are new, Firestones on the rear and GrandAms on the front, plenty of tread.  It has been detailed.  I haven't been under the hood yet, but hopefully I will be today.  I got the VIN, and it is definately a pace car, has a 9 at the 8th digit, L for engine code in the VIN, so it was an L48 car, I don't know if it is the original engine, though.  I'll get lots more info today or tomorrow.

be careful its not a fake- check the serial numbers, and the installed options- i thought that the 78 pace cars came with l-82's (perhaps different for ca emmissions). its not too hard to convert a 78 to a pace car with some paint, decals and replacing interior.

ive seen the actual pace cars in decent shape sell for 25k+ depending on who is selling it.

I hear ya, but the title is South Carolina, so now I worry about salt corrosion.  I've got a 77 now, so if this doesn't work out, I will walk away.  But, if it is a good deal, I'm gonna get it, I've always wanted a Pace Car since I first saw one.  I'l know more later.

A South Carolina car is fine as long as it did not live on the coast. My 75 was in the middle part of the State it's entire life and is in very good shape underneath. I agree with the others. LOOK VERY, VERY CLOSE! With the VIN and trim numbers, the folks here will be able to tell you if it is authentic.

Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.
I wouldn't worry about any salt corrosion from South Carolina.  Living a 30 minute drive from Myrtle Beach, I can assure you that the majority of our salt here goes in our grits.
