I dont know if i'd call this a barn find, It was on the road 2 years ago. 76's are the orphan of the c3 series for some reason. A 76 that needs work and paint sight unseen 3000-4500. Paint, maint, work and odds-n-ends are at least 6000.00
Why do ya say thet the 76 is the orphan of the c3 series?
I just bought a 76 and now I hear this? Whats wrong with them? Something I need to know about?

Don't get all worked up....it's just a little fun we have every now and then. There are a few years of ALL Corvette series that just never really carry any resale value...'76 just happens to be one of those years. It doesn't mean the car is a turd, or there are major issues with them. My '74 is also on that list.
If you like your car, then that's really all that matters. The reason there was even a mention of "orphan" is to let someone know that they shouldn't pay too much for the car, as it just doesn't have the value to make it worth an unreasonable amount, unless it is an unusuall car, such as a LOW mile, all original example.
Enjoy your '76! It, too, will someday bring the $$$...

Hey Madrider, the 76 is a great car. Just so darn many of them produced and sold that year that it'll take a Long Time before they become rare enough to be worth the big bucks that some of the year vettes are worth. Frankly, that doesn't bother me in the least and neither should it bother you. If you loved the car when you bought it then love it now. Take your time doing what ever you are going to do to it and then enjoy it for what it is an excellent example of the best dam car ever made, the C-3 Corvette !

O.K., all you 78 owners. I have found one that I am looking at. l-48, 52000 miles 2nd owner. Car is spotless with only a little scratch on the passenger side, seems to have been well cared for, have all paperwork including maintence records, window sticker and build sheet. Matching numbers. Is 15,000 a good price to pay?? pls advise P.S. it is ann edition

ALRIGHT MARK
. Vettes love company. Besides, one to drive while your working on the other, that's my philosophy ( and maybe one more for the wife, so she'll go along with it )

she was smiling while she was in the garage because she was secretly thinking about how she can manipulate you into building the car for 'her' so she can have one too!!
its ok, i know lots of guys, including my father who bought a car for their wife just so they can have another horse in the stable. so my 'mother' has a 69 camaro. kidding aside, good luck with the car
