Vette(s): 1971 T-top. I just had car shipped from my parents house in florida where it has sat for over 12 years..It is going to be a long project!

Well now that I have my frame back the work begins....but where to start?  I am new at this car rebuilding stuff and taking everything apart was not a big deal...but putting it back together is a different issue.  Just a little nervous I'll forget a part and wont figure it out until I'm doing 75 down freeway.  Any suggestions would be helpful...

Thanks to all thus far!!

Just back from powder coating...now the work begins.

Vette(s): 1969 Corvette Stingray Convertible. Just bought it from my uncle who owned it since 1971. Fathom green, green interior. 350/300, T400.

I would recommend buying Van Steel's suspension video, it has alot of helpful stuff in it as well as some shots of the frame with the body off. At Bloomington Gold there's usually a guy there with a restored C3 frame (assembled without the body), that's a good reference too.

you can buy an assembly manual from most of the major parts suppliers. You can also find one at some of the corvette swap meets. I have one and it has helped me many times over in my frame off resto. Good luck, it looks worse than it is once you get started on it.

I couldn't agree more with Krovette. Get a AIM manual. You will find yourself jumping back and forth in it quite a bit, adding dividers is a big help. The order of assembly from the front of the manual to the rear just doesn't make sense at all, but stick with it, you will eventually have it together. Do you have all new fuel and brake lines? If I was to do mine again, I don't think I would pay the premium price for the stainless steel lines, my car will never see salt again making a rust out on those parts very unlikely. I would work on suspension first, then lines, engine, running gear, exhaust, and fuel tank last. Are you re-plating your original fasteners or buying new? Be careful with some of the soft steel fasteners sold in hardware stores.

I didnt get fuel lines yet, it was on my list for this week.  Thats good to know about the SS lines vs stock.  I actually got the rear suspension on today.  It had already been rebuilt and was on the car before I decided to do complete frame off.  So all I had to do was remove t-arm bolts, shocks and rearend bolts and I pulled it off in one piece.

What fasteners are you talking about??  I have all new bushings and stuff like that.  Alot of the bolts I am reusing, unless this is a bad idea.

Thanks for the info!

If your old bolts are in good shape, I wouldn't be afraid to use them.

The hardware store variety can sometimes be of a poor enough quality, they can't be trusted to hold critical parts together. If you need to replace worn bolts, be sure to use the proper grade.

I used SS brake and fuel lines, new stainless clips also..

i replaced all the frame hardware with new grade 8.  I kept all the bolts in labeled baggies so someone can do a "correct" resto at some point.

im planning to do the body bolts with grade 300 stainless..
