I am looking to buy a rolling chassis with small amount frame rot on the pass side. Companies sell the 23'' piece needed to fix it. I know how to weld and fix the problem. My question is he is selling it for $800, is it worth it? The frame under my car is bent pretty good and I believe it has been pulled already. Any input would be helpful

Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.
Since you have the expertise for repairing the frame, it seems like a reasonable price to me. When my car was restored, the frame was so rusty I ended up buying a new frame. That was 5 years ago and including shipping, it was over $4,000.
I saw lots of rusted frames at Carlisle last weekend and they were asking a whole lot more than that for them. And that was just the frame.

If the rest of the frame is in good shape, and you're absolutely certain it will work under your car, I'd say it's a great deal. Just be sure to have some sort of jig set-up to keep the thing in place/aligned when you cut out the bad section(s). These frames will go all whompy-jawed real fast if they're not held solidly when a piece is amputated.

I was also at Carlisle. Turns out I drive 360 miles and I run into the guy selling this frame, and he lives five minutes down the road from my house. I is a small section rotted through on the bottom side pass side below the body mount. I will definitly brace up the surrounding area.

Boy, did you step in it! Cheap, and local.
Jump on this, even if it requires $1,000.00 in work, it's worth it.
Buy it, before I do. LOL
Alan.
