I have a 77 with 80k miles, its in really great shape, but i was doing some work on it and found some rust in the frame. Its not a lot but i am concerned. With out doing total restoration is there any thing i can do to stop it from getting worse ?I know at some point i will have to make a decision on this but it wont be for awhile. any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

We has a discussion about this a while ago when I asked the same type of question.  I used this stuff, it's easy to use and looks pretty good.

I have a 76 and when I power washed the inside of the frame, I found 98% dirt! So I used Eastwood" Internal Frame Coating for the inside. It converts, encapsulates and seals the surfaces. Phenolic resin with Zinc additive. All to many rust issues for these cars...and since I was  doing a frame "ON" restoration, this was my best choice to treat the inside...Good Luck.

Minor surface rust is not an issue. Rust that comes off in flakes IS.
Where is the frame rusty? Can you get some pics? The most common area for rust, and damage from rust on these cars is just in front of the rear tires, on the frame....most accurately IN the frame. Where the rear trailing arms fit up into the frame is a major rust trap.
Some pics of your rust would help determine how bad it is, or if it's nothing to be concerned about.Wink
