Okay, my fresh air door in the right cowl is stuck open, and water is pouring onto the carpet like hoover dam. Is there a way to keep water out since the door wont close, this is probably a stupid question, but I am young, and my car is 4 years older than I am, any comments are welcome

Why is it sticking? was it like that when you bought it or is this a recently developed problem?
There could be a lot of reasons why it's not closing. are you getting vacuum to the actuator. do you know that that door is normally open?
I actually had to work on my fresh air door on mine today! it was also sticking but my problem is a result from a wreck I had a while back. some of the things got shifted around just enough to lose clearences. the door was hitting the blower fan.
You can gain access real easy by removing the coolant resevor and then remove the blower unit. you can then reach up in there and find obstructions.
Good luck

the rod going into the vacuum diaphram ir rusted very badly to the metal bezel seal on the diaphram, none of the ac system has been fixed yet, so it hasnt been moved in over 15 years !
i dont know why it is leaking so much more than ever

does it leak when you wash the car? do you drive your vette in the rain? It would be wise to elliminate the possibilities of it being a leak from the heater core and a leak from the floor board. if you suspect a leak from the heater then simply bypass the lines. if the carpet is wet then it could be coming in though the floor board. there are supposed to be little rubber grommet cone like pieces stuck in the holes of your floor pan that keep water out. check on those by looking under the car, and I'll think about other possibilities during the day. feel free to email.

There should be a drain in the plenum to let the water to drain. Through the years the plenum will fill with leafs and debris, Pull the kick pad, pull the inner door assembly, good time to check inner door seal, reach in and down with your hand, wire coat hanger, vacume cleaner hose, or compressed air and clean it out left and right. Another place for water to get in is a rusted through door hinge pillar or windshield frame, hopefully not! Good Luck, Anips
