Vette(s): Used to own a 1979 Corvette now owned by JB79
I had the privilege of going for a ride in fun71's 71 last week. What a rush!
Not only is it a sharp looking Shark, but it sure is fast! It's an automatic, and yet, "chirped" through each gear!
Makes my 79 even less appealing than it already is!
Thanks for the ride, Joe!

71's RULE!!!

I've been looking through as much 71 info as I can get and notice that the only colours listed for 71s are every thing but black (10 other colours).
Is black on black a standard colour?? I haven't checked my VIN tags yet to find what the codes are.
If anyone has onfo it would be great...

The first black Corvette was the 1957 model in "Onyx Black" with either Red or Beige interior.
The first black-on-black Corvettes appeared in '59 with the advent of "Tuxedo Black" (code 900), which ran through the 1969 model year. After '69, GM offered no black exterior for the Corvette until the introduction of code 19 "Black" on the '77 model.
Consequently, there is no such thing as an original black or black-on-black 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975 or 1976 Corvette.
With only one exception, the black interior was offered on every model year from 1959 through 2004.

Adam --
Thanks for the kind words -- not sure how I missed this thread until now. My only regret after your visit was not letting you get behind the wheel yourself! It's not everyday you get a "GUEST DRIVER" who you know you can really trust. Perhaps on your next visit !!

We must have a 71 reunion sometime for all the owners of them. Joe does have a very nice looking car, had the pleasure of being in the Hershey parade last year with him and Dave (another 71 big block)

The original color of my 71 was Warbonnet Yellow. Whoever painted it did a crappy job. I am soon to paint her although I want to keep her black even though its not original, and the wife says RED and only RED. Black is cool!! We'll soon see who wins.

Hey Wabbitguy -- Here's a compromise. I saw an awesome Burgundy/Maroon paint job on a '69 at a local show last week. Since neither black nor red is your original color, maybe a dark burgundy is a good place to end up so that your both happy!
