Hi all,

I want to thank everyone who has given me some advice and tips. I have yet to make a decision but I really do appreciate everyone’s response. That’s what this forum is all about.

When we moved, I had a recess put into the floor to accommodate it. It's great for lifting the vette. More modern cars are hit or miss, as it's tough to get some of them lined up for the arms to reach as they are so wide. I've kept saying I'm going to get a 4 post lift, but as I do less and less with cars in general, I may not. Half the time, I don't even use the lift for oil changes. A jack and jack stands are just as easy. It is, however, worth the effort to put something on the lift for tire rotations, or better yet, brake jobs.

Can't get the tranny out with that kind of lift.

True. How many times do you take out your transmission? I did it once. Kind of silly to torpedo an option based on an extremely low use case.

I've got no interest in taking out transmissions😄, but there are a few "normal maintenance" jobs that the scissor type lift tends to get in the way of.  A friend who has one uses his to raise the car, then slots in extra long axle stands and lowers the lift and moves it out of the way.  That seemed a bit of a faff to me, hence the Quick-Jack.😄

I have a 10 foot high ceiling but have to take away at least 3 feet due to the garage door hanging in the space when it is raised.  A 4 post lift would be nice to have but I would have a project to do on the garage door first to be able to use it (get the tracks closer to the ceiling).  And I know both of those expenditures would not make it past the "secretary of the fiance".  🤣

A Quick Jack would be a nice addition to the garage equipment but again would not make it through the annual budgetary process.

So for the foreseeable future a floor jack and jack stands will have to suffice when working on "BLKBRRD".  Regular maintenance on the daily drivers can be done easily enough with a pair of drive-up ramps.
