Topic: good news , bad news

Well the vette has been in the shop getting her pre driving season look over. Wiper door (still), e-brake (last clicked worked a little), small leakage of power steering fluid. OLF, cooling system flush, install orignal intake manifold so that i have a choke, general look over to see if anything is in bad shape.
The shop I trust completely, guy is old school, has ncrs top flighted a 54 vette that he restored, has a 62 and a 99 right now, if I remember correctly guy has owned like 25 vettes.
Good news: he would venture to believe that the mileage on the speedo is original (40400) said that most things he would look at for signs of age looked great.
Bad news: clutch was shot, intake will not work with after market heads prevous owner install. so still no choke.
Good news: I have vortex heads
Bad news: had to but new carb, elderbrock with electric choke
Good news: now I have a choke
Good news: raditor looks excellent, e brake and rear brakes are all upgraded to stainless, clutch is fixed and the vette is like driving a new car, rans and is even more enjoyable to drive than before, if tht was even possible, WIPER DOOR is working correctly!!!!!
Good news: I also was checking out all of the engine pieces that came with the vette and ALL the numbers match for a 70 LT-1
Bad news: While he was checking for air cleaner clearance, he gently locked on side and then the other and then the paint cracked in the middle of the hood....... man did he fill mad, apoligized all over himself. things happen, he is a stand up person that will cover to get fix, bringing it to him after the summer to have it fixed.
good news: it is not a show car
bad news: cost me my fathers day and brithday and anniversy gifts thinking on giving her the new carb for mothers day.
Anyway just wanted to share the day, the vette is a dream to drive and it was good to hear about the mileage thing.

Look at it like this...all of your gifts are the right size!!!(just a bit of advice...do NOT try to give the little lady a carb as a gift!!)
Congrats on all the good news, and, if ya think about it, the bad news ain't all that bad!! Cruize with a smile, you deserve it!!

I love to hear progress on a Vette. And setbacks are part of that, so it sounds normal.
Good to hear the progress.

HEEEE.....HAAAAAWWWW, good for YOU!!
Don't ya just hate the "set back" part? I get those too!

Hey.. 6 good and 4 bad... that's not bad for a 36 year old C3... and it is rolling
I am curious about the hood cracking as that is the way I close my hood ... I just don't like to drop it down..
And like Joel said.. don't even consider a carb or tools for Mother's Day... or you may have some more "bad news" to share...
