Topic: Got pulled over
in Forum: C3 General Discussion
Got pulled over yesterday in the vette for being clocked doing 55 in a 35. First thing the officer asked was if I had any weapons in the car & I stated no. Then he asked me how fast I was going and I said 55 then he said do I know what the speed limit was? I replied 50MPH. He then asked if I was from around here...the answer was no. Asked if I had any speeding tickets in the last 3-4 yrs...no is the answer. Went back to his cruiser and checked to see if I was lying or if I was a wanted criminal. 5 minutes later he came back and replys I'm only giving you a warning then looked at the car once more & wished me a happy 4th of July. I reached out & shook his hand & wished him the same. Gotta love cops like that

I have to add that I really thought the limit was 50mph & I didn't see any signs stating otherwise. I think this could have been a factor in his decission. I like to get on it like everyone else , but I'm very selective about where I do it.

Thats cool, I had a Washington trooper do almost the same thing when I was crusing out the beach in my Dodge Dakota.
I had just got my new wheels and 33x12.50 tires, this set my speedo off by 7mph. I thought I was doing 65 in a 60, he clocked me at like 72mph. After I told him the story about the new wheels and tires, and promised to get my speedo fix, he went back to his cruiser to check out to see if I was a hardened criminal. He comes back and said "get your speedometer fix and I'll let you go with a warning" But the last thing he said was "Love your truck, I drive a Ram 2500)
Theres still some cops out there not just trying to fill a quota

I have found over the years that it pays to be honest and polite when you get pulled over.
I have received more warnings than tickets.

That was good luck for you.
I too learned to be polite and humble while talking to PO.
It has definately save my a#@ a few times.
However my last 15mph over the limit got me cited.
win some lose some. it`s all a matter of how much risk we are willing to take when we stomp on these cars.
