Picked up the Garmin Nuvi 760 this past fall. I love it, does everything except wipe your, well never mind. Came with traffic alerts and delays. Tells you how far ahead the delay is and how many minutes you will loose. I let that expire cause it cost $ and I don't need it unless I venture out of maine. I like that you can fly along cause you already know it's gonna tell you when to turn, so you don't have to waste much time looking for a street. If you do use it on a trip, still bring a map cause these things can sometimes tell you to do something that don't make sense. Every day they get better and better and cheaper and cheaper.
I bought the little garmin, (close to my name) for laceys business this last xmas, 90 buck at wal mart day after turday day sale, nothing fancy but it works really well.

Some things to
consider:
There is a
difference between telling you when to turn and telling you what street to turn
on. The Cheaper ones tell you when to
turn “Turn Left in 100 feet” instead of Turn Left on
Second thing is I
use my computer laptop and Delorme software if I’m traveling by myself. The reason is you can select in detail which
roads you do not want to use by selecting “waypoints”. Most small self contained units at the most
let you select one waypoint. It is
really a pain when you want to take freeways but surface streets are a shorter
distance. The stupid thing keeps telling
you to take the next off ramp.
So summing it up for
me anyway, get one that tells you street names when it turns and the more
waypoints it can store the better.
If you are going to
ever travel outside of the
My Garmin is a 640
not made anymore but is real close to the 700 series.
