You can get a dealer invoice from these people. I think it is $50. I think they go back to 1977

Will try that. I was told by NCM
I am sorry to have to tell you but the build records from the St. Louis Assembly Plant were never moved to Bowling Green, instead we have been told that all records were destroyed by GM. We were told that at the time (late 1970s and early 1980s) people were not interested in the documents and the records were destroyed and not moved to Bowling Green.
I am sorry we cannot help you with this matter but if you have any further questions feel free to contact us.
Thank you for your inquiry and your support of the National Corvette Museum.
This was from Betty. We are just going to take care of the little things that we have found and keep going. Have not had the time to put the car on our lift yet to poke around under it.

There have been several folks that have found the build sheet folded up, and stuck between the rear strut rod bracket and the diff on the '78 cars...I'd sure be taking a look to see if it was in yours! A lot easier than pulling the tank down.
As far as the St. Louis build records, some were prolly destroyed, but some were also burned up in a fire at the storage facility, as the legend goes....
Gm was not then, and is not now, in the business of keeping records for future archeologists...they're in the bidness of selling cars...the Bowling Green plant has records because it was computerized, so there wasn't a lot of actual paperwork to be stored...it's a lot easier to store digital data.
btw...now that my curiosity is up, is there something about your car that you think may "different" from the "accepted" norm?

I received the dealer invoice on my 77 from the source I listed above. what is the different info from dealer invoice than that from the build sheet.

Yes a couple of things.

1.Handles like my race car. FLAT, NO LEAN, Hang out the rear and it just is happy.
2.Comes of the line like shot out of a cannon. The race car is 650+hp and this one does lay you back a LOT harder then 230 hp.
3. Rear locks in and two EVEN black streaks.
Other than that a normal car.

They sent me a free PDF on 1978 Special; Edition cars that has ALL the data locations and translation for what i MIGHT find. THANK you for the lead.
Invoice is as ordered BUILD SHEET is what was SHIPPED to the dealer. It is the marks and notes that tells the factory WHAT to put on the car.
