Topic: Heat issues
in Forum: C3 General Discussion
Hey guys, I haven’t been doing much on the forums lately, partly because of school. This summer school is like the hardest school I've ever done. And I think partly is because its a college. I also got a new web design job that pays $1,300, and I'm starting a job with $400/WK (THE CAD ONE!!) I've been extremely busy lately. But hey the money pit needs it, right? Anyways on the top note here, I really can't push too much further with the project yet. As you know I live in
Thanks guys,

Not being able to spray paint in 100' weather is a new one for me

I've never had a problem using spray paint due to heat. Using a "mixed" paint, like for the body, yes, because the solvents will dry too quickly, and create a dry surface finish. Am I missing something here?

You sure don't need a swamp cooler running while trying to paint. Too much moisture with that.
Are you using a mixable paint with a spray gun?

i agree with the other guys- the real problem is humidity, which you probably wont have a problem with. like the others said, use a slower reducer to help the paint. the slower the reducer, the better.
youre a brave one for painting the car yourself- id be too scared id wreck it and have to start over! cant wait to see the after pics! what color did you choose? if i ever get around to it, id like to respray the car in that mercedes-benz satin silver base/clear or the new machine silver metallic on the new vettes

FWIW, Vegas can be very humid even though its surrounded by the Mojave Desert, like over 90% in some areas of the valley to go with the high temps... especially right now during monsoon season. Add to that more than our share of golf courses, greenbelts, fountains, lakes, rivers and swimming pools adding to the humidity that comes in off the mountains with the storms. 90+ humidty with temps in the 120's are especially fun days here on the "desert" to do anything, let alone paint a car.
Hey guys,
See, Larry or Ladobe knows what I'm talking about. Its way to hot to do anything. Sometiems my pool is so hot that its not even worth goign in. I'm not talkin about the body. I'm talkin about painting the engine compartment. I am going to have a really good guy paint the body. He's really friggan good at this. I'm not going to say the color, its a surprise when it's done, but I can tell you.... its gonna be hot.

I lived in Phoenix for 2 years. I used to hate it when people say that. "It's a dry heat in your oven too, why don't you hop on in there and tell me how ya like it"
