Hello everyone,
Im restoring a 78 from bumper to bumper. So far I have raised the body, sanded, primed and repainted the entire frame (I hate rust). I have completely rebuilt front and rear suspension including trailing arms. Also I have rebuilt the power steering cylinder and attempted the power steering valve but mine was to far gone and had to be replaced. I have traced and repaired the entire vaccuum system ( heat/ac, headlights, cruise control). I am now moving on to electrical and other systems, and engine components are in machine shop If I can be of any help with anything mentioned above please ask. I feel like I know these systems intimately.
I saw a thread on here about wiring diagrams and would love to get my hands on anything available, specifically cruise control and alarm systems. Also have wires I cant identify. where's the best place to start?

The AIM book is worth its weight in gold. I spend a lot of time looking at mine. I also bought the wiring and vacume diagrams from Doc Rebuild, use'em all the time. They are laminated so you can take'em out to the car with you, but the best thing I ever did was to join this site. These guy's always have an answer for you. Sometimes I'll be working on my car and have a question about something and I'll come in and post a question and within a little while I'll come in and someone will have answered my question. oh yea, get all the parts catalogs you can get, some have a lot of info.
Good Luck

Hey Silver, I'm doing a 78 Pace Car but haven't gotten as far as you have (frame off).
You state "raised body" did you simply lift frame and support it above the chassis? I've played with this idea. That is a lot of sanding?

Dr Rebuild has yet to do a 78 diagram and they've talked about it for a year and a half. I got a very nice color one from Don Olsen, Olsen Engineering. I've been using it to track down electrical problems and correct before I disassemble...like rebuilding the power door locks.

Keep me posted and we can help each other work through issues.
Hang in there, Joel "Adams Apple" will fly in to your rescue. Joel is great on the wireing, I think there is a link in here some where to get to all wireing?

I know he is a bit "tyed" up right now, but should be able to get free soon

I have a giant (11"X14") book with a Black and White picture of a Pace Car on the cover. Its for elecrtical troublrshooting with all the wiring diagrams in it. If you could get a hold of one of those I'm sure that would help. I don't know how I could scan something that large but may work on getting it scanned. Maybe this week I'll take it to Kinko's and see what they can do.

hey there,
When i said raised body i meant that i disconnected the body bushings from the frame and raised enough to get to what i could to grind sand and paint. At the point i did this the engine, tranny, differential, front and rear suspension, spare tire holder, fuel lines, brake lines and gas tank were removed. I have no way or room to completely do a body off so i did the best I could. With everything out of the way it wasnt hard to loosen the body mount bushings and raise the body a few inches. Everything was already accessable except the frame down the sides under the doors and the top of the crossmember.
If you take the rocker panel trim off you can get to the sides of the frame easily!

If your engine is original, MAKE SURE the machine shop does not deck the block and grind away the numbers on the pad.
