Topic: Help Paint Job Needed in Northeast US
in Forum: C3 General Discussion

Hey I am jeremy.
I am currently restoring my 1974 Stingray. i am hoping to get started on the paint job this winter or next spring. does anyone know where i can go? I am from new jersey and everywhere i look body shops are only doing insurance jobs. i have one guy saying he will do my paintjob for 15,000 dollars and over a 5 month amount of time. all i am doing is getting the car repainted the same color as it was factory and having my front bumper replaced. I even have the new bumper and mounting hardware. no extras. i have side pipes but they can go on at another point. i am at a loss here and i am reaching out to the several thousand corvette owners of this site. i hope someone is from or near my area that might have some ideas. thank you for very much for your suggestions if you have any.

15K?????????????? wow! sell yours, add that to the 15 and buy something that's mint. sorry, I'm in Cleveland, can't help you in NJ. keep looking. even on the east, that's got to be way out of line. I'm sure you'll get some help from the members.

That's extremely high. I'm getting mine done this winter too. My estimates ranged from $3000-6000 on the high end, that's in Iowa, but for the difference you could have it shipped here and painted!

You could transport the car to Akron and get it done right much cheaper. I don't expect you to do so. But if you do, Atlas Body Shop, E. Market st, Akron Oh.
Excellent work, honest good people. They have done the work on several national show winning Model T's. One of the owners (brothers) has a C2.

If you are just looking for a "driver" paint job then try Maaco. And I don't mean the $299 special. For a couple grand you should be able to get a decent amount of prep done to the car and a decent paint job with decent paint.
Keep looking around. Tell the shops your requirements... you'll find one that wants to do the job.
