Those key lock ones are a real bear when the key is gone and the car has been traded in. Try getting a set off with a dye grinder to not hurt the wheels. Not fun.

Hi Guys!

Tried the tool I got at Pep Boys and the threads do not appear to want to grip the chrome.

I spoke with a couple mechanics and custom wheel shops and thet all say to beat the tool I got from Pep Boys on the nut.

I don't know about you but I do not believe in taking a 3/5 lb hammer and smacking the crap out of my vette.

Maybe the Snap-on tool will work better.

And, yes sometimes you have to drive tool onto the nut. Don't hit anything but the tool and you won't hurt the car or wheel at all.

Okay everybody the lug nut is off!

I decided to try driving a socket one size too small over the nut. I did so and inserted my breaker bar and it worked.

If I get the lug nut out of the socket it cost me almost nothing!

Thanks for everyone's input. Your input is what gave me the idea.

Getting the calipers off was the easiest thing I have done on the vette.

Cannot wait to recieve my new O ring calipers!

PS-I was in deep weeds because I had the brake booster out for restoration and the master cylinder removed so I can install an original. Mine was shot anyhow.

Phew!!
