Vette(s): 1978 L48, p/s, p/w/ factory ac car factory manual trans has a 350 crate engine w/260hp, but also have original which may be rebuilt- we also have a 76 w/ a 454, and 74 350 in various stages of being rebuilt, plus an 86 and an 02....
Hope everyone has been doing well. I've been out of touch tryin to get ready for race season, and here are the updates, questions, etc. I traded the 67 mustang for a 79 race-built camaro with a 383 w/ blower. About to pull and rebuild tranny, then I'm good to go. I'm worried about how hot the engines get with blower- will it be able to cool off enough in the Texas heat, or do I need to get cooling bags? Next question..... anyone know much about 70 Camaros, or 74 Vettes and big blocks? We're trying to figure out where to rereoute the brake line so it isn't next to the headers.... bad combo. I'm about to be in the same position with the 74 vette w/ big block, so any suggestions are highly appreciated. AS soon as these are done, then I pull the tranny on the 78, and hopefully take it to Joel. I am beginning to think we have too many cars......

You are very lucky to have

You really need to consider an intercooler. When you compress air, you create heat.........more boost.......more heat. The intercooler can boost your horsepower by keeping things cooler, more dense. You should also talk to Joel about external trans cooling. Texas HOT! Check this link out for an example of an intercooler. By the way, you didn't mention what style of blower that you're using. http://www.cpperformance.com/detail.aspx?ID=4215corvette440hp 2008-04-22 06:25:27

Run your brake lines through the firewall into the interior, under the carpet right next to the speakerwire and back out the rear under the trunk. I think this is how Bubba does it.

Will definately look into that- as for style.... ehhhh.... I'll have to get back to ya on that one. New to these things...... I just know it doesn't have the big beast above the hood, and it sounds quite mean. I'm pulling te tranny tommorrow to get the stall and torque converters flushed, and possibly the tranny gone over, so I'll look closer then, and really- I need all the help I can get on this one. I WILL beat Jim..... SOON!!!

The brake lines on the Corvette, big block or other-wise, should be fine right where they are. Depending on the headers you use, of course. I can't ever remember needing to move, or re-route brake lines on one for that reason. You may need to tweek them just a little bit, but that's about it. I can't speak for how the Camaro is, tho...
Believe it or not, there are a TON of blown engines running around in Texas. As long as the cooling system is working properly to start with, you really shouldn't have any overheating problems. You may want to look into an electric auxiliary fan set-up, but not just because of the blower. Depending on the "tune" of the engine, it may run hot naturally, so the extra fan(s) would be a good idea.
