I love car movies. I have a home theatre and about 180 DVD's (not all car movies). I have "Smokey and the Bandit" (1977 Trans Am), Demolition Man (1970 442), Gone in 60 Seconds (1974 and 2000 versions)...you get the picture (no pun intended).

What movies out there have C3 Corvettes in them? "Rush Hour" (Black 1970? rag), "Corvette Summer" (modified 78?) Can anybody list more? |headscratch| Just curious on what else is out there |thumb|. Might spend some time this week checking them out.

For a good car chase find a copy of Bullit with Steve McQueen. Hate to say it but it was a waste of a nice 68 fastback mustang and 69 charger. Most movie buffs say it is one of the best chase scenes ever.

"Ronan" had a pretty good car chase too. I can't remember the cars though. "The Italian Job" (the original - haven't seen the new one yet) had good car action. No vettes though. Of course had they used vettes some of us might call that "a tear jerker" |haha|

Vette(s): 1976 Stingray, L48 auto Buckskin/Buckskin Leather originally. Numbers matching.
"Bullit" was a milestone for car chases on film. It was the first car chase filmed "at speed" By todays standards, the chase scene is good, but short, if I recall(I rented it just for the car chase, didn't watch anything else). You have to appreciate when it was done, to understand how good it really is.

McQueen did a movie after 'Bullit' called 'LeMans' I think. Very little story but a lot of driving! |thumb|

I still remember seeing 'Grand Prix' as a kid at a cinerama (sp?) theater. The driving scenes were so realistic, especially with the 'surround' type feel to it, that there were people hurling in the lobby during intermission! |laugh|

I saw a movie on television about a month ago in which Halle Berry drove a blue C3. I think Damon Wayans was in the film. (maybe the Last Boys Scout)

There's a music video out ("Papa Roach" is the band I think) with what looks like a mid 70's 'vette along with a bevy of muscle cars driving around LA at night. Pretty cool driving. It's shot at night and the 'vette is black, so it add's a little excitement to the 'vette sightings. I think Mountain Dew turned it into a commercial.

Ronin has some of the best movie driving I've seen. The DVD extras (John Frankenheimer commentary) are outstanding. All of the chase scenes sere filmed at speed (no blue screen) and they used formula one drivers along with the actors in the car. Gotta be one of the best.

Fast and the Furious has some amazing driving. Absolutely no story and even less acting but the driving is great. I'm not a MOPAR man but the ending even brought a tear to my eye.

The Matrix Reloaded uses a sweet 60's camaro in the Freeway chase scene. All of the cars in that scene were GM.

Anyway |headscratch| that's about All I can think of.

Andy

One of the movies that definately has a silver C3 featuring is "As good as it gets", with Jack Nicholson. Just keep a hanky ready - HE BUMPS IT!!! - it is heartbraking. This is a "feel-good" movie - but then again, any movie with a Vette in it has that effect.

Corvette summer was a modified 1973 Corvette. It is now owned by Mike Yeager of Mid America.

Just bought an old movie the other day. "Billy Jack" Bernard drives what looks like a yellow 68. He also drives it into the lake. What a waste!
