Hey Scot, at 85, my vette hasnt even kicked the Quad in. My 74 has 160 on the speedo and I was just curious if it would do all of it. My curiosity is satisfied, but my need for speed isnt. Good thing I have a lot of police friends. |bouncy|

"Kicked the Quad in" what on earth does that mean!? lol, I got mine up to 90, but she's still got a LOT of dry rot in the rubber, so decided to back off and live to drive another day! =)

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.

In order for my vette to hit 160, it would have to turn about 8000 RPM's. Mine won't do that for sure. My redline is 5300 rpm's. I'd be lucky to get 125 out of it.... |sad|

I decided to take the highway to work today instead of back roads. The need for speed just made me do it. Anyway, there was a late model Honda in front of me on the ramp and when we hit the 4 lane, he apparently jumped on it. I did the same...I mean I had all of my foot in it. I went into the passing lane with the hammer down and was kind of surprised (as was the kid in the honda) when I came up beside him. I looked over and smiled as I pasted him. After I completed the pass, I looked down real quick to see that I was doing right around 105 mph. So much for jap stuff. When I slowed down to 85 to cruise the kid came flying past me, I think he was giving me the 1 finger salute. |laugh| |bouncy|

Scot,
Please be carefull witht he speed in your car till you get some of the basic problems straightened out. Don't forget, it goes fast but it has to stop also. Yea, yea, I'm sounding like dear old dad again....well I am old just not a dad althought I have been called a muther on occassion.

Glenn,

RX is the one who's doin' 105! |laugh| I have been keeping it slow, cept for one occasion where I hammered it to the max and got it up to 100 even with tops off windows down and lights on...was rock solid there, but refused to go any faster(probably because the level ended and uphill started |ick| . Also made some interesting observations while out showing off with my friend(daggon ex-Porche driver). When the C3 is almost out of gas a powerslide is EASY, but right after a refill, not a chance...all my years of gaming never taught me that! I can fit 14.5 gallons of gas into what I thought was a 14 gallon tank? I Love My Car! |thumb| *shrug* New tires tomorrow, new vaccum hoses (tonight?) and new AIM in same time the hoses are. Going to be a fun week, and driving to Upstate NY on the weekend, be a real test of the car =)

Tsk, Tsk, Tsk..... |no-no| Don't I remember reading somewhere that even a +10 MPH ticket will lose your liscense? Oh, how stupid of me, you were in a 95 zone and doing 100 was ok. No Problem |devil| Seems like you are making your decision very very easy and the girl friend is gonna win |biggrin|
Be careful, you sound like you still have a lot of work to do on that car before challenging the triple digits.

Scot,

By the spec sheet, your vette should have an 18 gal gas tank, if it is original...|thumb| |thumb|

Glenn,

You don't know this woman, she ALWAYS wins |eek| not too surprising tho I suppose never have been good at much |smokin| I definatly have a lot of work to do, and I'm definatly not goin' fast for a while, somehow I'd rather not be a statistic.

Do you know what they call people that do 100+ MPH ?

Organ Donors |wink|

Actually that's what I call guys on motorcycles going 100+ in heavy traffic. In all seriousness thought I can't say that I never did it. I flipped a car and me and a friend walked away from it. After that I figured I used my favor from the man upstairs and I have slowed down. I still think back and think I could have killed my best friend and it still makes me shutter. Guys, be cool with the speed. If you gotta do it, do it by yourself. Just my humble opinion.

Remember no matter how good a shape your car is in our cars are still 25 + - years old.

Live long and prosper!
|cheers|
