Todd can you find out more about her process? I am more interested in that. I would like to play around with my own airbrushes.

I think what you are saying is that she lays the glass mat over the OEM liner to make her template, finishes that, and then does the airbrush work.

I really want to keep the OEM board to keep the heat off of the hood. I am thinking that these can be painted with enamel 1st and then be airbrushed or freehanded. I did my C5 last winter and it turned out good. It wasn' elaborate but I didn't want to put alot of time into the 1st round if it might fail.

If you don't mind find out what you can from her and let us know..... THANKS!
I only know she said it takes 4 times of fiberglassing, not sure if just resin or sheets, I will try and find out more today.

Update: Larry from VetteSpecialties has offered the original GM hood liners to members as follows.

73-75  $90
76-79  $120

He has offered to ship directly to her and then it will be up to each member to deal with her for what they want painted and return shipping from her. I am still trying to get a ballpark price from her this week. I do need a picture of a 73-75 hood liner installed with measurements included. Please email me a pic. Thanks

This link may be of interest. This company is in NY someplace and the guy does his own work, even tho it is for C6 & C5's the stuff can be used on any car.

Those are really cool Todd Thumbs%20Up  I especially liked all the checkered flag stuff.  But I couldn't do that on the Pacer.
I have found a lady who does hood liner art for C5's and C6's. I talked to her about the C3's and she is very interested. She takes the mesh and fiberglasses over to create a painting surface. See her web site.

Please let me know if anyone is interested and I will try and see what we can do for price
Here is the e-mail I recieved from Paula about prices. She has only shipped 2 day air before so that is why shipping is so expensive.

Hi Todd...

Sorry about the delay in getting this off to you!  I don't know where the time goes!

OK, this is where we are at..

You have a supplier that will ship the liner to me.  I will paint it and ship it to you..  Am I on track?

Cost wise, I will ala carte the different designs..  This will give you an idea...

C3 cross flags painted         $295.00
American Flag                     $375.00 pretty much covering the whole liner
Eagle head                           $185.00 in between cross flags
3 flowing ribbons                 $150.00
CORVETTE  lettering           $85.00

Shipping to Wash.        $140.00 2 day air

Todd, this will give you an idea where to start.. As far as designs, these are pretty much true cost..

Let me know what you think..

Thanks for your patience...

Hi Paula, these are pics of the C3 homemade liner. I hope it gives you some idea of what it looks like. This liner is for 1976 through 1979. I have another member of C3VR (C3 Vette Registry} sending me pics of the 1973 through 1975 liners that are different. I will fwd as soon as i get them. So far about 5 members are interested, alot more after costs are figured out. I know the costs will all be different but a ballpark estimate was asked about. Thanks, I will stay in touch. i still would like to be the first customer.

I hope these are OK. I haven't been real happy with this Insulation cause it is loose in the center. I have been thinking of doing something else maybe, what I don't know.

The last pictures didn't come thru for me.

Count me in on these hood liners.  I would also be interested.

How about  reducing shipping $  by doing "regular" rather than air?
