I have heard about the moth balls, but I have no idea if it would work, and never talked to anyone that has tried it. Sounds like an old wives tale.

The the diesel fuel works to raise octane. Octane is the resistance to burning. Diesel burns slower and colder than gas, so the octand does go up. But it does not give better performance due to the difference to the burn properties. More likely it will foul the plugs and make a stinky exhaust. Performance will usually drop.

the moth balls do work.. your car will run like a bat out of hell..

but it leaves a residue and it crystallizes.. also it burns very very hot..

not a good thing to do.

as for diesel.. never tried it in a car.. my old man once filled the tank about half way full with diesel on my mothers old 60 chevy.. it back fired like crazy for a week.. must have broken carbon loose because it puffed a huge ball of soot every time.. then ran like a champ.. guess it somehow cleaned the engine out a little too

by the way.. not that ive ever done it.. (seriously i havent) but adding too many moth balls to gas will destroy an engine.. ive seen the results of it..

Ben's correct. If your crazy enough to put mothballs in your car - do it to a car that your gonna trash. It will run like it's got nitro in it, but you can count on it dying soon. (don't ask me why I know this either).

Ok Ken,

let's just say that at one time I had a 70 Toyota corona that I used as my winter car that was on it's last legs. It had an overhead cam and posi. I used it for a couple of years while my chevelle sat the winter out. So when it got to be spring one year we desided to see if the mothball thing worked.

Man, it was quite a site to see that thing screaming like it had NOS |rollysmile|, but no fun when the engine ceased at 95 mph on the freeway |cussing|.

It was a good thing that the other cars were able to avoid the car spinning out of control in front of them. Lost my girl friend too that day (after the spin) she was so pissed off that she got out and hitched home while I sat on the side of the road waiting for my buddies to pick me up. I do not advise you to try this at home |no-no|

I had always heard about the mothballs legend but never talked with anyone that actually did it. When we were kids we talked about doing it to our motorcycles. I guess it was a good thing we never did it.
