I just purchased this 1972 convertible (my first) today, and while I think I got a fair to good deal, I'm curious to see what the experts think.

Below is link to a sideshow with lots of pictures, and I paid 26.5.
(EDIT) - sorry I crewed up the poll, there was supposed to be a just about right vote - and I don't see a way to add another selection to the poll.

As the owner of a 72 convertible I think you did good. Does it have a hardtop with it? Mine has both tops, one of 811 in 72 that had a vinyl top insted of painted. I just noticed that you live in Austin, are you going to Hot Springs with us in April? Did you get the car locally? looks familiar.fp_vetter72 2008-03-19 17:44:08

No hardtop - but living in Austin I don't think that may be much of a problem. I might decide to see about purchasing one down the road, but not sure.
I'm not going to be able to do Hot Springs, I'm already commited to taking my wife to Vegas the following weekend.
I have seen a lot of posts for local drives/rallies - I've just started checking out the various forums (this is by far the best) - and I saw something about a bluebonnet drive coming up in April - I think I'm going to try and do that one.
No I purchased the car from someone in Chicago - the pictures are ones he took for the sale - I get the car next Friday.
I am not normally a fan of white Vettes, but yours is a beautiful car. Is it a restoration or a well taken care of survivor? Based on the condition, I think you paid a very reasonable amount. Most of all..drive it and enjoy it. They were after all, made to be driven.

Having been c3 shopping recently, I think you got a good deal. If there remains much original date coded parts, then you got a great deal. I'm just up the road a bit in Fort Worth, so hopefully will get to see it in person someday.

I hate to say it, but I'm not sure if it's been restored yet or not. I won't have posession of the car until the 28'th.
Things that have me guessing . 1) There are only 38K miles on a matchin #'s engine (350 sb). 2) The undercarriage appears to be VERY clean. And, 3) I thought I read somewhere that 72's didn't come with passenger side mirrors?
So, until I get a chance to look real close (or better yet, have someone who knows what they are looking at take a look), I'm not sure I'll be able to tell.
