Paid Cash. 5501. The one dollar was so it wouldn't end up in Philly on the street. I had to go higher than the asking price so the owner could say he got a better offer without lying. Now just keep buying stuff to  make it better.

I have always been a car guy since I was about 7 years old building models of some of the coolest cars from the 60's and 70's.

I entered real estate and bought a 1964 Pontiac Parisienne (Canadian car) for advertising (name and company on back window) but after about 5 years I decided I wanted something a little sportier so started looking for a Vette.  Bought an 81 about 2 years ago with little knowledge of the cars and found out there was more wrong with it than I first though.  I returned the car to the dealer who gave me all but $500.00 back to take it back (kinda like renting a sports car for a week).  Continued looking off and on for another 2 years untill my daughters friends father saw my 64 Pontiac, I told him I wanted to sell my Pontiac and buy a Vette.  He didn't want my Pontiac but I ended up buying his Vette, a 1980, silver, oyster interior, auto L48, 31,000 Mi in excellent condition.

Prior to my career as a real estate broker I was with Xerox Canada and was laid of in 1999.  I had no job, a mortgage, and no car (I had to return my company car).  From that point on I only pay cash for all my vehicles as I never want to be in a position where I have no income and big payments.  I never buy new cars, only lease returns, a year old, with lots of warranty left.  So... Paid cash for the Vette after taking my time to save and look around for the right vehicle.  This is a good car with nothing to do on it although I want a little more power so will probably put in a crate engine.

Wally,
I have a 72 coupe with 4 speed, what did you do to service the transmission and the differential?  Just wondering what kind of work I should plan for in the future.
Thank you.--alex
