My 1978 L48 4 speed is Yellow with a Red interior (yes, original colors). I have never seen another one with this color combination. Does this make it more valuable? How can I find out how many were made like this?

According to info I found there were only 1,243 produced with the yellow color, none were made with a red interior, only dark brown, black, and oyster. |headscratch|

Your yellow is correct exterior but not the interior. Red interior is only on for white, black, silver,
silver anniversary and red vettes with exerior paint. What does the plate code on the driver's side door say on it? That is you key to success!

youd have to have the tank sticker to prove it though..

This car has been in the family since new, so I know it came this way from the factory. The question is... can I prove it?

The trim plate says "TRIM 722 52L PAINT." It also has "I31" stamped in the upper right.

Here are a couple of pics.

Trim 722 is for red leather interior. 52 is the code for Corvette yellow paint, but I don't know what the "L" suffix stands for (Lacquer?). There were 1243 yellow Corvettes assembled in the '78 model year. 4607 were assembled with a red leather interior. How many (or few) have both seems to be the unanswerable question.

The "I31" may be code for the assembly date, but I'm just guessing on that.

Good guess as that is the body build date. '78s started being built in September of 1977, which is build month 'A'. So build month 'I' is May on the 31st. Source is the 'CORVETTE Restoration Guide 1968-1982' by Richard Prince, 'Appendix S, Body Build Date Codes'.

Do you have a build sheet and dealer window sticker? They will also help in you quest for more information on your vette. |thumb|

I don't have the window sticker or a build sheet. I have the original order form but it does not mention the colors, only options.

What is this "tank sticker" and how do I find out if I have one?

Is the trim tag insufficient to prove it was original?
