Has anyone here put wider tires on the stock 15x8 slot alloy rims? The stock tire is 255/60s and I am planning to fit something wider like a 265 or 275 perhaps.

i wouldn't go many wider myself , i am running 255-60-15 and any wider would hit the body if you hit a bump and crack the fiberglass and the 255 just clears the fenderwell when turning. i thng i have about 1/4 in of room there

going along with the wide thing...what aftermarket wheels look good on the vette and are wider than stock, but not too wide?..

be sure to get the correct offset as you will interfere with things behind the wheel , like brake lines and arms.

I run 275x60x15s in the rear and 255x60x15s in front on 10 inch rims on my 71 with no problem.

TorqThrust II's (American Racing) with 3.5" backspacing. Clear the calipers no sweat and have the "deep dish" wide look ... Polished aluminum or chrome finishes available. Put a set on my '75 about six weeks ago.

Nothing scannable ... HOWEVER ... you can see them on American Racing's website, and in any current Summit catalog. Also, the recent issue of Corvette Fever that featured wheels and tires for C3's had some pics, I think.
I'm running stock-like 225 rubber (Radial T/A) and a stock height suspension. Everything fit right from the box... no vaseline, or crowbars, or anything!
