I swapped the L-82 out of my '78 for the ZZ-4 I had in my '38 Pontiac coupe. I took 'em to a skinny little redneck guy about 35 miles out in the country who was highly recommended. It took him about 4 months and I had to make the 70 mile round trip about 4 times a week to keep him on the job and do the detail work but we finally got 'r done.
I sent a pal of mine from AL to him with his '86 El Camino in Dec. 2004 to swap in the ZZ-4. All the skinny little redneck has done for him is pull the old engine and trans making the car tough to manage.... and he is 175 miles away from him in Alabama.
Seems like a familiar story, Good luck!

Sorry for all the trouble. If it makes you feel any better a friend of mine has had his 82 vette at a shop here in Jacksonville for over four years. The lesson here- never use Wades Corvette.

Yeah, these kinds of issues kinda go with the territory. It's a big job for some shops. I've got the same project going but I couldn't afford to pay anyone so my buddy let me do it at his shop. I used to work for him part time, I've known him for 22 yrs. and just about the time I got the motor 1/2 together he sold his business and I had 2 wks. to get my stuff out and I'm on my own at home. Each time I need info I must email my buddies for answers. Joel told me of a great eng. guy and he's a member of C3VR. Sal "nosal1" has his own performance business . Great guy, and his info is right on the money. So , thanks to all those who have helped me with their knowledge and all those who will before this project is complete. One day, hopefully this year, I'll finish my dream motor with the help of my friends.
