Its kinda funny. The one on the left says Mako Shark but looks more like a C2 (Stingray) but the right one says Manta Ray but looks more like a C3 (shark)!

Both Makos. The Manta Ray says it was originally the Mako Shark II and was then re-worked and became the Manta Ray. Either way, I was in Corvette Nerd heaven!
Has everyone heard the story about the paint? That Bill Mitchell kept telling the paint guys to try again because they couldn't get it "just like" the actual Mako Shark he had caught (I think this was on the original). Story goes that the paint guys broke into his office and repainted the car to look like the shark!!
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
That's cool, Marshall! I didn't know about the paint!

Mitchell kept insisting that they match the color of the original Mako(then known as the XP car) to the mounted Shark, and no matter what they tried, it couldn't be done. So they did take the Shark off the wall, and painted it to match some test panels they had. Then they showed the panels to Mitchell, and placed them up against the Shark, and he was satisfied that they had FINALLY done what he wanted. Mitchell didn't find out until waaaaay later what they had done.
The later Mako II, and the Manta Ray were both a darker blue...the Manta was almost black.

That's one way to get it done! Whatever works! (unless you get caught)
