Vette(s): 1972 coupe/350 cid/mild cam/4 spd/20 ft. paint (looks perfect from 20 ft.), but it sure runs nice.

Don't think your trajectory will take you anywhere near extreme So. Florida , but you'd certainly be welcome to stay. I'm sure some of us locals would ride part of the way with you, too.  What a site!....a Vette task force going down the road.

Vaya con Dios, brother.

Looks like I'm making 2 stops in Bowling Green...first the NCM then a short drive over to Holley to meet Matt (After Shark) for a tour

Matt,

You picked a good route by heading south into I-10. I drove a truck cross country for 15 years and you're in for a treat. I do suggest that you take some survival gear like extra water, blanket, etc. A CB radio will come in handy. Unless you take the Intersate loops that go around the bigger cities and depending on the time of day, you may get stuck in traffic. Once you get past Dallas the weather should be fine, but, you will be in God's country, and there isn't much out there as far as population goes. Past Phoenix it's really God's country. Once you get into Blythe CA watch out for the CHP, They're real good at tracking your speed without using radar. Wish I were tagging along

God luck & enjoy

Already planned on picking up the emergency stuff in PA after I land . I've done cross country a few times and can't wait to do it again...this time will be an experience in a side piped classic Corvette . I got popped by the CHP a few years back speeding towards Phoenix, so I'm WAY ahead of you on that one .

I know I replied to this forum from my office, but it's not here

Anyway, I drove a rig cross country for 15 years, you made the right choice by veering south. Weather wise, you should be in the clear past Dallas. I hope you get good gas mileage, you're going into God's Country and unless they've made some major developments, service area's including Truck stops are far apart.  I suggest you take some extra water, and other bad weather gear just in case. A CB radio would come in handy. There are no highway lights, it's pitch black at night. Once you get past Phoenix, it's all desert and beautiful, if you need to stretch your legs, or want to enjoy the scenery,  watch were you walk there are rattlers around. Once you get into Blythe keep an eye out for the CHP, they're real good at hiding and nailing you from behind  I don't think you'll ever forget the adventure that you're in for. Can't wait for you to tell us all about it.

Good luck
