Well, here I am in Maui with the sun shining and the trade winds blowing and no C3 to enjoy this great weather with. Well, I lasted 3 whole days and had to go rent a C5 and let me tell ya, it just isn't the same thing! It is however MUCH better than than the Firebird I got from Alamo ! I See Debbie and "Rosie" are breathing down my neck in the on line show...go for it Debbie
I left my baby in the new garage which is now finished. I will post a pic or 2 when I get home. The engine block is also done and I can't Wait to get started on puttiing it together annd into the car. I waved to everyone as we headed West and will wave again as we head East.
Man, this "OnLine" WEB TV stinks !

So...what model C5 did you rent Glenn? Sounds like you're having alot of fun. Who all went with you and where are you staying? Are you going to do any island hopping? When do you come home? ANY C3's running around to wave at there?

I knew it. A Hawaiian vacation for Glenn. That is why he charges for rides. Someday, with some guidance from Glenn, maybe I'll be able to afford a vacation like that. Hey, buddy bring us back some of that beach sand. Enjoy.

Well, we all feel really bad for you that you are in Maui cruising around in a C5 while your beautiful C3 sits in the garage back at home.
You are so lucky. I hope you're getting lei-d a lot by some hot Hawaiin babes!!!

See Rick, those 2 cent charges really do add up. I'm home again and can not wait to get the C3 on the road. The 2000 C5 was a lot of fun to drive. One of my dislikes with it was the climate control. I guess I am just a manual air and heater kinda guy. The car handled VERY well on the mountain roads. I really do not understand how the C5 with much less torque than my C3 has , seems to really get up and go from a standing start. There is a NOTICALBE delay in initial accelleration if the traction control is used but it fairly leaps out when the traction control is turned off. Amyway, it was fun but is out of the question to buy one. Maybe after I retire and the mortgage gets paid off, I might look at a C6 but only if they actually increase it to a 427 like the preview articles talk about.
Yes Darla we did island hop from Maui to Hawaii and yes I did meet another C3 driver over there. Saw a couple C5s and a couple C4s. No one waved back, maybe cause they did not like the Camaro I was driving
Aw come on, at least it is still a Chevy
Just another 100,000 frequent flyer miles and I might be able to afford to go back again

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.

My daughter and her husband just came back from hawaii too. They left Hawaii on Thurs at 9PM July 4. When did you get to LAX, Glenn? Do you think you were on the same flight? Got to LAX the day after the shootings. The world is going nuts, right? If I can't drive, I ain't going!!!

We left Kona airport around 10 pm Sunday night and hit LAX around 5 or 6 Monday morning. The coming home is the hard part. We did not get to Phily till 5 pm Monday evening. We ended up at around 32 total hours from getting up Sunday morning till getting home Monday night. Going to Hawaii is much easier. We left at 6 am on a Tuesday and got to Maui on the same day at about 2:15 pm. So we had enough time to get the car, drive to the hotel, unpack and drive over to our diner reservations at another hotel ( anniversary diner ...couldn't be late for that ! ).
