I hate to clutter the board with non-Corvette related crap, but I really felt the need to respond to the responses I got from jayare and corvette440 in the thread I posted yesterday.

Wow, harsh words for corvette440 and a harsh personal email too.  I can't believe what I've heard.  Calling me a maggot?!  Saying that joining this site was a marketing ploy?!  Wow.  I'm VERY insulted and a little hurt as well by your comments.  Maybe I should have gone a little bit more in depth about my situation.  I would like to try to clear things up but first let it be known that for me:

NOTHING COMES BEFORE MY FAMILY, NOTHING!

Yes, I am a Special Education teacher and have been for 8 years.  It is my full time job and no I don't make a lot of money doing it but it is a rewarding feeling when I can make a difference in the life of an underprivileged inner city kid.

I do have a body shop but it is vacant.  My father was a body man and he died in 2000.  Since then we've been renting the place out but when we (my family) found out that there were drug dealers sub-letting the place 2 years ago, we threw them out.  Since then a new RI fire code law came into play and all body shops had to have mandatory alarms and sensors installed.  We hired a guy to do it.  He started the job, got it about 40% done and screwed with half of the money that he said he needed up front.  He's nowhere to be found and no one else wants to touch a job that anyone else started so the place is still vacant.

I have a 1968 Camaro that my father bought for me when I was 16 years old as a father/son restoration project.  He and I worked very hard on the car which was only a rusted shell when I bought it for $500 back in 1984.  We did everything on the car.  Rebuilt the engine, all bodywork, and paint too.  He died from a blood clot in his lung in 2000 and never got to see the car totally finished.  It has sentimental value to me.  I am now 39 years old and have owned the car for 24 years.  My wife knows that I will never sell it and one day I hope to give it to my oldest son who is 7 years old.

I do have a 1970 Camaro basket case that I bought it 3 years ago that I intended to try to rebuild it myself as a tribute to my father but haven't had the time or money to get the job done.  It is sitting in my garage completely disassembled.  I was hoping to get it back together because I will need to sell that too.  I wouldn't be able to get anything for it in the condition it's in now.

I am a power seller on ebay because I hooked up with my Camaro parts salesman and offered to sell HIS surplus stuff to try to make a little money on the side.  I was getting 10% of everything he sold and was working crazy hours for him.  I asked for a raise in pay.  He said no and I stopped selling stuff for him.  That's reason why I have the power seller sign but I don't suspect it will be there for long because right now I'm selling just a few carpentry tools and am doing nowhere near the sales I was doing before when I was listing stuff for him.

Maybe I didn't go to the right place to mention how I was feeling.    I was just a little depressed last night and needed to vent a little I guess.  I've NEVER had any intentions whatsoever of using this website as a selling tool.  When I mentioned this site in the ad, I just wanted people on ebay to know what a great and helpful site this is and how much I appreciated all the help I've gotten here.  I wrote a letter to Adam no to long ago telling him how grateful I was to all the members and adminstrators on this site who've helped me.  I told him that I felt like I was part of a family here.  Don't believe me corvette440hp and jayare?  Ask him.  Maybe he can send you both a copy.  I can't believe I'm being accused of joining the site as a marketing ploy and am being called a maggot.

Please do me a favor guys and get the facts before you make false accusations from now on.  I do believe in second chances so I hope that we can get along in the future.  Please don't judge me by my membership status because if I could afford to be a lifetime member at this time, I would be.  I'm an honest person and am trying to do what I can to make an honest living and be a good father and husband.  There's really nothing else to it.  No ploys, no schemes, really.

I appreciate George posting this response.  I am embarrased by the two members that offended him.  I'm hoping apologies from both will be forthcoming.  Here is the email I just sent to George in reply to his email to me expressing his displeasure.....

[QUOTE]
George,
First of all, thank you for bringing this to my attention.  I tried to call you to talk about this, but the number on your account must be your daytime number.
Secondly, I want to apologize on behalf of the members that offended you.  This is actually a VERY rare occasion that one (or more) members upset another member.  I try to make sure that this doesn't happen and I think have one of the most respectful bunch of all the Vette sites out there.
Third, while I am not at all excusing their behavior, please try to look at the facts they had them from their perspective.  I have to admit, I found things suspect as well.... On our forum you are talking about hard times which is why you need to sell the Vette.  On the ebay ad, you say nothing about the hards times and go on to mention other projects that you are going to put money in to.  People that are having hard times typically don't spend their money on classic car projects. I am speaking from experience, by the way.  Things were going really well for me early in the decade and was very close to having enough money to have my Vette painted. Then I got laid off.  I have yet to recover enough from that to pay to have my Vette painted. It is still in desperate need of it.

If you still have them, please forward me any personal emails that were sent to you by our members.  It is against our policy to send harassing emails.

I read your post on the site in response to this issue and very much appreciate you posting that message. It was well thought out, well said and a mature reply to the situation.  I appreciate the second chance and I will contact the offenders in attempt to make things right.    They definitely should have gotten more info before assuming the worst.  Now that you've posted a full explanation, I would think they will feel like jerks.

If you wish to call me, you may do so at 610-XXX-XXXX.  I am in the Eastern Time Zone too. Please try to keep the calls between 9am and 10pm.

Thank you again and I hope this does not sour you on C3VR!

George,

Please seem my response in your original post. I am extremely sorry that you were subjected to the outlandish comments. Best of luck. Let me know if I can help you in any way.

Scott

Thank you detectives for your diligent investigation. From a few paragraphs, you have determined factually that a hard working teacher, who happens to love muscle cars, is a non paying maggot, extorting this site for free advertising space. No doubt, the association with C3VR was a "ploy" to sell his corvette to some unsuspecting, know-nothing wannabe Vette owner.

You two should be ashamed for giving the impression that you actually uncovered some scam. After years of presenting this site as a family atmosphere that strives to welcome all Vette lovers, you two have perhaps wiped that effort out with your outlandish comments.

To malo68, I have been here a few years and have made it a habit to welcome all new members, trial or otherwise. I hope that you understand that the opinions of two members, with obviously to much time on their hands, does not reflect the views of most members. On behalf of myself, you are welcome here and I apologize for the behavior of our two resident investigators.

Scott

Well put Adam, I'd hate to see anyone turned away from the greatest C3 site on the entire internet because of a few harsh words from other members.  I don't know about the other moderator's but you can contact me anytime if you need someone to talk to or make a comment on the site.

Thank Ranger3, my7T1, cilrah and all the others who wrote encouraging words to me.  Adam wrote to me and I just wanted to post a  what I wrote:

Adam, thanks for the getting back to me in such a timely manner in regards to this matter.  I really feel bad that it had to happen at all.  I did try to see things in the perspectives of the others in retrospect, and I DO understand how people could have gotten that idea.  I suppose I didn't mention in the ad about the hard times that I'm going through because I felt that people would think that it would sound too phony and that I would seem too eager to accept a low price for the car.  I know that they were just going on what they knew, and they probably assumed that I would be fixing it up to enjoy vs. fixing it up to sell that as well. Anyway, I'm willing to let it go and have been touched by the kind, considerate, and encouraging responses I've gotten since then to the tune of "I'm with you, man" from the other members. I sincerely thank you as well for your professionalism, humanity and perspective.  Hey, nobody's perfect.  It's just that the "maggot" thing really bothered me something terrible.  I hope you will still accept me on the board as even if the 'Vette sells (or not) I still appreciate learning about them.  Thanks VERY much Adam.  Sincerely, George

Now if it's okay with you guys, I would like to squash this thread.

Grorge, (Malo68), I evidently went off half corked and assumed (we know how that word sometimes works out the wrong way) everything was a scam. I am very sorry to jump to conclusions that weren't true. I'm guilty at times of being over protective. I thought that you were just using this site as a ploy. When someone is falsely accused of something, they should fight back the accusers, as you did to clear your name and reputation. I offer my sincere apology in the hopes that you can accept it. If you don't I guess I can understand. I hope things work out for you and your family. Hopefully you will get to know that C3VR is a very respectable place. You can sort of see that indication by the major amount of well wishers and consoling that you received initially. Just about everyone at the site tries to help each other. So, please don't judge everyone because of a few. Thanks for your cosideration about this. Take care Larry (corvette440hp) Sorry Adam to put you thru this also!corvette440hp2008-04-25 19:05:51

George, I also want to apologize for the rude comments that were posted. It's unacceptable...C3VR is a great forum, and I hope you will hang around.

Folks, please remember, there are rules...as stated in the C3VR Membership Agreement
C3 Vette Registry Forum Rules:

1) To be free of ridicule and harassment.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If you don't agree with someone on a topic, that does not give you the right to ridicule or (especially) harass that person. You are more than welcome to disagree with someone, but express your opinion in a way that is not offensive to the other person.

This rule applies to the forums AND emails sent to a C3VR Member by a C3VR Member.

If anyone is found to be breaking this rule (1 time), their membership will be terminated! If the offending member is a Gold or Lifetime Member, NO REFUND of membership dues will be offered!

Apology accepted.  Thank you for taking the time to write to express your thoughts.  I sincerely appreciate it and hope we can be friends.  I'll still be cruising around the site so if you should happen to need anything, feel free to drop me a line anytime.  I do have some experience in doing restoration work so maybe I could help with something.  Take care, George  Thumbs%20Up

george, i joined this site a little over a year ago and i find this hard to believe as i have never seen anything like this happen here before. there were differences of opinions but never anything to this point. this only goes to show some people the old saying still applies-- "if you have nothing nice to say, you shouldn't say nothing at all".

i hope you will still enjoy the site as i have seen people join who were just thinking about buying a corvette. a wise man has posted here many times --c3vr rocks and it usually does.Thumbs%20Up
