Hi,
I looking for info on my 1977 Corvette, mostly the history of it... the last owner had it for the last 8 years and I know it isn't from out of state, and that's about it.
Is there a website or phone number that I can call... maybe DMV.... There's a things on my car that I don't know what they are for... like a push button under the column to turn the start over... why, I don't know..
things like that.
Thanks,
Paul

The button sounds like a kill switch...just something to keep someone who doesn't know the car from starting it. As far as info on your Vette, Ron 78 posted a thread called - Free Stuff From GM - in the C3 general discussion forum. Check it out...
With all the 'right to privacy' laws that have been passed in the USA over the past few years it will be tough to trace the car's history through DMV records.
The best you can hope for is to get in contact with the previous owner by phone or mail and hope the owner before them is still available to provide you with the previous owner before them , etc, etc.
Good luck...!!!

Ive got something like that on my 78, 2 small black rocker switches,I know one of them kills the distributer so the engine wont start, but I haven't figured out what the other one is.I have discussed this with the last owner, and he said he didn't know either,it was on the car when they bought it from the original owner and he forgot to ask him.the knob you might be refering to could be the one directly under the steering colum at the bottom edge of the dash board is the vacuum override switch for your headlights,if you want to raise the headlight without turning them on you pull the knob down, mine only works with the engine running. If anyone else has those rocker switches on there dash let me know what they are, Ron 78

Ron , do you still have the Clifford alarm system on your car? We did but had it removed because of the short ciruit problems it was causing. It had a switch for turning it on and off manually near the headlight manual doors switch you mentioned.

The button that I have turns the Starter over but doesn't start the car... it's right next to the headlight switch that opens them. It looks like a dimmer switch on older cars that is on the floor but smaller in size.
