joe dont understand why they told you that. mine is a 75. are you using as a daily car or maybe the amount of insurance you are asking for is too high? just a thought on that. costs me $240 a year no deductible. as staed above those are only conditions i know. only other problem was that they didn't want to write policy as my wife is a licensed driver and all i had was one car for personnal use. had to shoot a letter stating my wife is a very occasionnal driver (she is handicapped) and that the only time she would be driving would be if there was something wrong with me and then she would be using my escalde and not the corvette. faxed it to them and they approved the policy an hour later. just thought of something else. maybe the way it is registered. mine is registered as a collectors car in nj. the other option was to do historic but with tose plates it states for car shows and educational purposes only. collectors car only limits you to 3000 mi per year.

I have State Farm collector insurance on my 74 and pay about $150/yr. It is full coverage with an agreed value of $15,000 and $500 deductable. My mileage is limited to 7500 miles annually and has to be garaged. The agent took pictures of the car and my shop I store it in. Haven't had a claim on it (thank God) but don't expect any problems. Have 2 other vehicles with them and have for many years.

Looks like I am getting it from both ends.
My car is titled as CLASSIC, so i don't know what State farm did, I have to call and find out why the rate is so high. As for Grundy, no daily and I only started with $15,000. Attached below is the email they sent me back.
Dear Mr.Modestine:
Thank you for contacting GRUNDY WORLDWIDE's web site. Unfortunately, we are unable to insure a 1974 or newer Corvette unless it is part of a collection.
We wish you the best in finding the appropriate coverage for this vehicle.
Respectfully,
GRUNDY WORLDWIDE

I just called Grundy Worldwide and was told that any vehicle newer than 1974 was ineligible unless it was part of a collection of at least one other classic vehicle. State Farm told me earlier today that their classic car insurance cutoff was 1975 at this time. I know my 82 isn't "as classic" as many of the other members rides but also know that my regular car insurance will not pay me what the vehicle is worth if it's wrecked. Going to try Haggerty next.
After reading all these messages I reviewed my policy, it has gone up to $226 per yr. Full Coverage. My agent says it is due to living in Fl. I had to pay some fund for hurricaine victims, any of you guys get stuck with that, although I don't really mind if it used properly. Gene
Could one of you guys give me Gundy's phone number or e-mail address. Just curious?

Grundy phone number from their website 800.338.4005
I've got Hagerty's on the '80 for about $240/yr for $15k coverage as long as it's not the daily driver w/no other vehicle.
However, the just sent me a notice stating that I'm no longer covered at gymkhana or other track type events so I was going to look at Grundy's but based on the above, no need with an '80.
I tried to go thru Geico, but I got tired to trying to find someone on their classic ins side that had a clue about classics. I have been with Geico since the '80's and never had a problem with them until I tried to deal with the classic side.
What to do???

I have grundy for my 3 antique cars.Good insurance at about $180.00/yr for all total.I asked just a week ago about this 77 I'll put on the road in a year, they quoted me $92.00/yr.I have been problem free for them for the past 12 years and at 61 yrs.old maybe they don't look at me as too much of a risk.
I have J.C. Taylor.
You can get a quote on-line to see how they compare.
Here is their web site. http://www.jctaylor.com/
I pay about $150/year.
