I'm using Condon & Skelly, for about $220 per year, $23,000 agreed value, limit of 2500 miles per year, must keep garaged.

I just went with Hagerty on my 82. Seems it wasnt old enough to satisfy Grundy but Hagerty would take it at 25 years old. I checked with most of the other companies listed here but some will not write liability in my state so Hagerty was the only one left and the price was attractive.

My question: I don't have a Garage to keep this roarin roadster in. Where do I go for the best deal? Gonna Buy one of those metal carports though, as soon as I can level some ground.
478/year is actually not that bad for StateFarm.
Let me explain; as far as I know, StateFarm doesn't have "classic car" coverage, so you are insured just like any 2004 Mazda or even .... 2002 Mustang

When you get classic car coverage (and there's many listed in this thread); which is pretty much any company with a quote under 200$/year, you get pretty good coverage, but just not ALL the time.
For "most" of them, classic car coverage will have some "restrictions" like
-must be garage kept
-must not be driven over 2000 miles/year
and last but not the least :
-the vehicule can only be used for classic car functions (like shows or club meeting, but going to work with it on casual friday's isn't allowed).
Some "regular" companies, will offer a kind of hybrid policy; where they charge you less (but still more than classic coverage as defined above), but they understand that you would want to drive it on friday's or not necessarely to functions, so you would have to give them a quick call before taking your car on the road; tell 'em you'll be going to work that day with the car and they will charge accordingly. You start with a certain allocation for the year and depending on your usage, they could charge a little more as you go. I know it can be done, but I don't have a company name for you.
A good clue to see if they know their stuff when getting quotes, is the VIN; if the person on the phone tells you that the VIN doesn't fit in their screen, then you know they are not too good at handling classic cars.... (I'm not sure which year it was standardized, but on my 74, the VIN is shorter and a few insurance company could not even give me a quote because of that. Needless to say that I didn't want to do business with them...)
Thanks a lot for the info. I saw in some of the posts above that some
of these guys have agreed value and only a few restrictions. Some said
they have no mileage limit. I guess I am doing ok. State farm also has
my truck and homeowners.
Thanks again,
Scott

For the Aussies on this subject, I use Shannons with a stable policy for all my vehicles including my daily driver. I pay about $200 per month and that covers my street vehicle (fully comprehensive), my two sports cars as club registered, and my two vehicles which are laid up for restoration.
In the event of an accident, fire or theft, I get the value of the vehicle and also get to keep the wreck if written off.
For the members in the US, in Australia you pay 3rd party insurance (compulsory) as part of Govt registration fees.
I have not managed to find a better insurer than Shannons.

if it completely enclosed and lockable it might be ok for a "garage". grundy who i have only restrictions are you can't use it for a first or back up vehicle and it has to be garage kept. almost forgot, no one under 25 can drive it. other than that i can drive it for pleasure anytime.
my mileage restriction is from state as i registered it as a classic car and not as historic. i can drive up to 3000 mi. a year, anywhere i want. better for me as i would probably put a lot more on itunrestricted.

Same here Scott. Both of the Vettes are insured by State Farm and so is the house (you get a better discount). I'm happy with them. They are covering my car for a value of $35,000 (I don't think my car's worth that, but I won't argue) and I pay a little less than what they are charging you for your Classic. Your doing good!
