Hi everyone! I just joined your group, since we just bought a
blue 1982 to keep our 1990 Quasar Blue Metallic Coupe company.
We have no experience with C3's, and I hope you don't mind us
asking all of you seasoned C3 owners for advice and help!
I don't even have a photo to post yet--but I sure wish I did,
so you could help me figure out if the repaint job is an
actual Corvette paint color, since it doesn't seem to correspond
to any of the blues listed in the Corvette Black Book for 1982.
The color is a deep teal shade (greenish blue.)
I know we're in for some adventures, since we have absolutely
no history for this 'vette! Wish us luck, and thanks in advance
for your help.
Linda

Welcome aboard Linda! |wavey|

There's a pretty deep knowledge base here on the C3s so fire away with the questions. Someone is bound to have an answer for you.

As far as the 'Mystery Blue' is concerned you might get lucky if an auto body place can narrow down the color for you. Other than that you'll have to hope to get in touch with a previous owner for the answer.

And post some pics when you can!

Welcome to the registry. One of the major Corvette parts suppliers sells a book of paint chip colors. I just looked at the books I have here at work and of course there are no paint chip books listed. If anyone out there has one, maybe they will tell you where they got it and you cna order one. It may not be an exact match to your color but you will probably be able to tell if it is "supposed" to match a factory color.
Another option would be to find out if there is a Corvette restoration shop close enough for you to get the car to and let them look at it.

Thanks for the warm welcome! That paint color guide sounds like
it would great just to have for reference/comparison. If you ever
find out who sells it let me know.
I'll post my engine/other questions in the other catagories of
this forum--thanks for your help!

Welcome to the registry! I have seen paint chip sample sheets availble on E-bay pretty often. Just do a search with
Corvette + 1982. Check back from time to time if none there now-but again I see them too often not to be pretty readily available.

Good Luck with Mystery Blue and enjoy driving/restoring.

Hello Greg! I love your '82 also--that's why we
bought one (it's all YOUR fault....)
I sent you an e-mail last week to the address on the Blue Thunder
member list--I hope you got it. If any other BT members are
reading this my "secret" is out! I wanted us to drive up and
suprise BT with both 'vettes, but right now we have too many
questions about the '82 before we take it on the road. Hopefully
you and the others here can help us troubleshoot what may or may
not be things we need to work on right away.
