She sounds pretty cool to me..........your lucky....I saw how many toys you have. A lot of women won't put up with that many toys!!
I came with with my V.W. and then later down the road, I said, "I'm gonna buy I Vette", so I did. Now, I would love to have another Vette, I'm a lookin'!!
You have it made in the shade......so easy!! Keep her in a positive additude on Vettes, let her pick the one she wants to drive, she'll be "hooked." You both will be doing "Vette Activities", growing closer together and the marriage will get even "better."

TA-DA!!!   End of story!!

When I bought my vette, which I wasn't planning on doing. I went with a friend to look at it. He had a C5 and was thinking about buying this C3. We get there, it turns out this guy is my insurance agent. My friend decided not to buy it (not sure why). So I ask my agent how much. He made me an offer I could not refuse. I didn't even ask my wife if I could have it. I thought I would be in big trouble. I figured I could sell the MG if I had to. Instead, she said the 66 MG is now hers. I said deal. Its great to have an understanding wife. It sounds like you have a great wife too Jetta111.

I have the 72 vet and a 1967 29' sailboat that we restored. To be honest my wife is tightning the ropes. We pay $225 per month in slip rental so It's coming around the corner, DESIDE! I would like to get another older car something the whole family can enjoy not just two at a time. Anyone looking for a boat?

Vette(s): Frederick County Corvette Club (Maryland) Tan 64 365 Hp Conv 4 sp Red 72 4 sp Conv ..running a '68 327 Blue 76 Coupe L 48 4 sp White 79 Coupe L 82 auto Silver 98 Conv, 6 sp 35th Anniv '88 vette
I doubt that either is a 4 speed...IF one is THEN

...that is the one I WANT ..if not flip a coin..

I really like to have a spare Corvette in the garage but again to being honest having an 81 and an 82  does not make a lot of sense to me...
In my oinion BOTH are low milage cars...   I think it saw Sarge who said he lied the lack of a Carb on the 82 and the well here I disagree (Hey I am in my 60's and I know carbs I do not know Computers..you may be different) ..The extra gas milage is a non factor (who cares..you will not be driving it 1,000s of miles a year ..

I own 64 72 76 79 & 95 Corvettes and am shopping for a used Z06 (get my 21st SS check in February and Uncle Sam is going to foot the bill) ...BUT I do have too many Corvettes... I should sell both the 95
and the 79 if I buy a Z06 but most likely will not..  Its almost time to
lock the cars up in the garage for the winter and having 5 of them to
"tweak" over the winter can be problematic.. all have a few things to fix/adjust/play with etc...

Just my opinion...

Your right, having a 81 and a 82 don't really make much sense other than you have 2 vettes instead on 1, kinda like his and hers! there are a few differences in the 2 though, my 81 was one of the last made at the st. louis plant (I am only 35 miles from it) it does have the carb (I like that) and I could redo it back the way it was when it was new (something I enjoy and take pride in) the 82 was the first year made in Kentucky, has the more modern "cross fire injection" (which I am not going to say anything about) it does have the overdrive trans (that is something I do like) and was the last year for the C3 (which is my favorite body style) plus the wife can say its hers and is something we could do some lite cruising in or take to local car shows. I am still undecided

I guess I'm kinda lucky too.  Got the 74, which my wife loves.  She really likes the C5 also and is wanting to get one for herself.  Guess we'll be keeping our eyes open for a good deal on one -- she likes yellow.  Oh well, there goes the budget.  I told the kids they would inheret what there was left when we got done.  Gonna enjoy life.

I agree with Bob's thinking. Carbs over computers. But! 81's are also computer controlled. You can't even tinker much with those electronic 4 barrel carbs. unfortunately. Now if it was an '80 non California (LG4 305 4BBL) vette, that's a little different.

Jetta 111,

1981 was the first year for the vette to be built in Ky. (only 2 tone cars). 1982 was the 2nd year for BG. Production in St.Louis ended I believe at the end of June. All St.Louis cars were solid color. Bowling Green cars were the first base/coat clear coat paint system used on vettes.

I am fortunate to have one of the first run of the BG vettes. Car #3975, Built Aug 1981. It was originally 2 tone-Silver/Charcoal.

Good luck with you decision!
