You sould fell lucky that he is offering your money back. lawyer fee.s and a judgement in your favor does not guarantee you will ever get your money. I found out the hard way but hey the guy still owe's me. Be nice at least till you get your money back, then tell him a thing or two

Don't pay any more money til you have the keys in hand. Kind of like you give me the keys at the same time I give the money. I actually think you should get the money back in cash and run like hell.

If you decide to go through with the deal do you know whether or not he has fixed the brakes or water pump? Did you get that in writing? If you did and he hasn't done the repairs I'd withhold at least $500 from the balance you owe him and send him any balance leftover after you have had the repairs done.
But I have to side with most of the others. Get your deposit back and look for another car.
These vettes will draw you in..... Once you are hooked it's all over.
Take your time. There are plenty of fine machines out there waiting for someone who will care for them like yourself.
Like others have said, don't push the deal. If it smells rottin, it must be rottin. Be willing to walk away as hard as it seems at the time.
If it is meant to be, it will be, don't force it.

I have to agree. If it is meant to be then it will happen. Don't push it. You will regret it. Follow your gut feeling. GM made many thousands of these cars, and this is not the only one.
Good luck!!
Alex

Good luck!!

Legaly = the car is yours and you should be able to enforce the sale if you want to!!!
Now the big question is this car something that is rare and worth more that you contracted for?
If so and you really want it then hold his feet to the fire. They teach you that anything that
is written on the BOS is contractually binding and he will have to hold up his end of the deal if you
want to make it yours. Always write everything down in the BOS if you give the guy a Deposit and especially the name & signatures as a witness of anybody with you. Be sure to copy his Drivers license info onto the BOS under his name too.
A BOS with out getting the title in hand is not a good idea when dealing with a total stranger.
I judge the house they live in and how hard they are to contact on the phone.
I would be lerry of anyone that didn't have some kind of offical paperwork on a car for sale.
They will bend over backwards when they are trying to sellit to you and if they get a better offer later if you have done as much as you can then you should be able to force them to sell it to you.
Next time take the info on car with you to the police station, even if you feel that he is the righfull owner but I would always call the local police and give them the S/N first just to be safe. Actually do it before going to look at the car if you think it is one that you may buy.
I have a newspaper clipping about buying a stolen used vette myself. I accidentally bought a stolen car and before I gave the guy a check for the car I insisted that we went down to the courthouse to check for a lein on the car.
Something just didn't feel right about the guy and why he was selling such a clean '78 vette and while I was walking throught the courthouse after finding out that it didnot have a lein
on it I just stuck my head in the sheriffs office and ask them to run the S/N for stolen and it was!!! About that time the guy walked out of the bathroom next to the door of the Sheriffs office and took the shortcut throught the doors
of the Sherrifs office and they arrested him on the spot right there in their own lobby!! Turns out that it was stolen from Fla. and the guy had
stolen some blank titles in a burglry and typed the correct info on a blank title and if I had not been supicious he would have
been long gone.

There are two brackets that fit on the luggage rack. Then three velcro straps hold them on. I'll take a photo of them and email pictures to you. Also, I'll get the name of the place where you can purchase them. You do have to have the luggage rack with 8 bars on it. I actually purchased them from Pacific Corvettes out of Puyallup, WA, but they are actually made in Vancouver, British Columbia. I have the address, etc. of they person who made them somewhere and will track it down.
