Vette(s): 1980 L-48 still in the middle of a frame-off.
I am doing a frame off rest-mod of my 1980 and I post pics occasionally. About a month ago I had it towed to the engine builder so he can finish up putting the accys and wiring together.

Today I called to check on the progress. I'm starting to get itchy getting it to the body shop. Holy Moly the world has collapsed. He starts ranting and raving about some minor things on the car and how bad life is and he is DONE!  I said "done???"

Yup he not working on the car anymore, closing up his shop, come get it this week and he's ready to strangle his kids. Serious...come get your car and finish it yourself. I'm done and tired.

So the saga continues. 14 months in a body shop that was worthless and now the engine builder craps out on me.  When I have it towed Sat. I will bring him a 6 pack and share some Prozac with him.

Will it ever get done???  Going on 3 years and I thought it would be done in 18 months. If I survive this then I am going on one heck of a road trip.

Sorry Dennis. Most of us can't do it all ourselves, but I can't afford to hire any one to work on mine so, if I can't do it, it won't happen. Guess I should have been smart enough to stick with one car and do it up right, but it was kinda' like gathering a harem at the time, wonderfully exciting. Don't give up bro, you won't regret it. It's so hard to rely on others, we hope your luck gets better Thumbs%20Up      ....Jimmy & Melissa

I work construction and thought people only stiffed ya in this line of work. I guess not. It's not easy finding someone that can do a good job and is reliable also. You can find someone that's very good at what they do, but their not good at running a business or something in their personal life has a bad effect on their work.
It must be hard this time of the year, but take stock of what's left to be done and plug away one step at a time so you don't get overwhelmed. (Easier said than done I know) It Will Be Worth It In The End.
Heck, I got a '41 pickup in my garage I had since highschool and my head spins every time I look at it and think about what it needs.Wacko

My plan is to tow it back to Grandmas house again and finish the work myself.  I find it amazing how many unreliable companies are out there.

I am going to try and have it finished by fall time providing there are'nt too many more issues. My problem is Grams lives 136 miles from me.

I did buy a new tent for this year so at least I can sleep better.

here is last year's tent.

I sleep next to my baby when I work on it.

Thank god that I do 90% of the work myself.  Everything but the body and paint and a good friend with a body shop does that for me real cheap.  I help him with mechanical assistance on his chopped 39 Chevrolet sedan and other projects that pass through his shop.  His big block powered, air conditioned rod goes to the auction block for the Boyd Coddington sale on Friday in Springfield, Missouri.  Awesome ride!  I wish that I could afford to buy it.  Enough ranting.  Hope you get matters worked out and get your car finished.  If anybody cares, examples of his work can be seen at www.mikes-autobody.org

Sorry to hear about your setback Dennis.
I guess the good guys are real busy and the places that aren't do lousy work.
Good luck with the rest of the project.
