Just took this off my 1981 Corvette and was wondering if any one can determine if it's an after market or an actual Chevrolet antenna ?  I can't find any writing on the antenna other than this information in white silk screen print.

When did you take ownership of it? Because "20181110" sure looks like a manufacture date to me!

Hi Adam,  I purchased the car 9/6/2019 when I bought the car it had been in storage the sticker on the license plates was dated 6  94. In Illinois that's how our plates stickers are marked month year. If you order your plates in June 1994 your sticker is marked 6  94,  they are good and you have to renew them each year after that in June. The previous owner told me the old antenna didn't work and that he replaced it the antenna in order to have everything operational,  he also told me it took him a long time to find the antenna. I was just wondering if the antenna pictured is an after market or an actual Chevrolet antenna.  Now that you mention it that does look like it may be a manufacture date of 11/10/2018. Is that your thinking also ?

There's no way it's OEM. Not a bad thing unless you want an all original car.

Here's a photo of an OEM on ebay.  It won't hook to the page and open!

Hi Adam,  Thanks, no I'm not looking to get an all OEM car,  I was just curious if it was a Chevrolet or after market antenna.

Johnu,

Thanks for the link to ebay.

I found that antenna on ebay item # 142761358985. Seller says it's a correct preproduction antenna for 1978 to 1982 Corvette not for a c b,   it's not a cheap item $199.00

Vette(s): 1980 loaded red on red. 68,000 original miles. Second owner. Well documented with all original paperwork. NCRS Founders Award 9/27/14. NCRS Top Flight 10/12/14.

The antenna Laurel has is OEM. It looks exactly like the one on my 80 and it's oem. See the metal clips that hold the two pieces together. Aftermarket doesn't have those. The antenna on ebay is aftermarket. OEM doesn't have that silver tube on the base.
