Thanks again everyone.
Do I see a WIDE GLIDE in the back of that TOY BOX?  Take in the GATHERING at BEND, OREGON. Get to know some of the people first hand by being at a function.  Enjoy the stay.    M-n-S
It is a 2002 Heritage Classic and if the need for money arises it will be the first to go :)

Right now it is hard to get away, but next year after retiring I will be able to do more cruising and make it to the gatherings.

Wow, that is a great story.  Corvettes are addictive, so be careful!!  LOL

This site is awesome because of the people.  Look for a local Corvette club too.  I searched through four here in Denver before I found one that reminds me of C3VR.  (Laid-back, loves the cars, isn't afraid to drive them, doesn't care who has what or what condition it's in, and are quick to welcome new people and make them feel at home.)

Glad to have you here.  Thumbs Up

Good idea Bryan I will start looking for a local club tonight. I noticed when other Corvette owners pass, regardless of the model I get a wave. First couple times it caught me off guard so I did not have time to return the greeting.

And another belated welcome to C-3 Itis.  It is kinda like a virus.  Once you catch it, a royal effort to get rid of it.  And your education in Chevy land is great.  BUT.  Ya gotta really enjoy watching these guys on a rallye.  Our fearless leader in the lead (red 79) breaks down on the interstate in New England, trooper pulls up alongside, sees he is broken down, and immediately dares him to a drag.  Of course, the thirteen other vettes piled up in a line behind him didn't have any comments!!

Phillip,

I saw the title of this thread and I thought "uh oh, what did we do wrong?"  Glad to find out this was a POSITIVE thread!

We're of course glad to have you.

And don't mind ebo.  He's like that cranky old uncle that you see at family bbqs.  Just ignore him and he'll go away!   (Actually, it's not that easy to make him go away.)  Rolling On The Floor Laughing

Vette(s): 1979 L48 Resto-Mod. ZZ383 w/ TKO-500 manual transmission. Centerforce clutch. Tail light conversion. A/C. BeCool radiator. Red exterior with custom black and white leather interior by Mid America Motorworks.
I just read Phillip's post.  I had a similar situation.  I bought my corvette while shopping for a...don't hate me guys....65-66 Mustang. I had a 65 Coupe that I "restored" when I was younger and was looking to try a second one, but during my search, found my 79.   The corvette was in too good of shape, and for the price, couldn't turn it down.  So I unexpectedly became a Corvette owner.

First thing I noticed....the Corvette is MUCH harder to work on than my old 65 Mustang!!  I immediately started searching the internet for forums to find other vette owners to help me out.  I found this site, read through some of the posts, and immediately joined the group.

I've had my Vette for almost 3 years now. I can honestly say that almost everything I've done to it, was done with some advise from the people on this website.   Like Phillip said, the people here are the friendliest and more helpful group of people I have ever dealt with.  Every time I run into a problem, ya'll help me out with little to no ridicule for my shatty mechanical skills Tongue

Just wanted to hop on Phillips band wagon and thank everyone for all the help over the past 3 years.  I'm still working on the car...so expect the questions to keep rolling in....

Thanks again fella's,
-Shane
