Picked up the Vette from Lew's yesterday after it's second trip there in two weeks. Had to put it in originlly for a couple minor problems from the Gathering run. The speedometer and tachometer had to be calibrated (both WAY off). The other thing that happened on the way back from the gathering is that the left muffler (the one NOT replaced recently) developed the rattle but blew a hole in the end of the muffler by the time we got home. Once again, MAM replaced the muffler (polished S/S turbo) at N/C (except shipping back). So after that stuff was done, picked up the Vette on the Fourth of July. Starting up and driving home everything was going great (running good, A/C blowing cold) when all of a sudden I hear a pop under the dash and the A/C system goes dead. No blower, no nothing. When I got it home, checked fuses, one blown. Put a new fuse in, blows again. Checked all visible connections under hood, A/C, high speed relay, and motor, but no visable damage. Disconnected A/C clutch, blew another fuse. Turned HVAC controls to heat before plugging in fuse, blew AGAIN. Did I mention it was hotter then Hell in MD that day? Finally called Lew and told him I was bringing it back. What he ended up finding is that the wiring harness that runs down the firewall near the heater box had dropped a little and rubbed through on a bolt, welding the hot wire for the HVAC system to it. Simple fix to all that trouble! But the car is running GREAT (for now, we know how THAT goes) and I'm getting it ready to go to Barb's (bobbi's78) show on July 21! Can't wait!

Vette(s): 1972 conv, 4-speed, 350, 200hp, numbers match, rally wheels, war bonnett yellow w/white top. good condition, nice driver.

Sure hope your done for long while Barry. I had my share of woes this week, hole in PS return hose, replaced that, then I had to replace the seal washers in the back of the AC compressor and started to put the freon in when the high pressure hose split open, so I have that on order. Then the upper rad. hose moved for some reason and was being hit by the blades on the aternator, so I had to fix that also. Looks like it was my week to get hosed!

Hey, Dave, when I first got my car, I was cleaning stuff under the hood and I noticed that the upper radiator hose had a groove worn in it from the alternator belt. Turned out someone had put the wrong hose on. The proper hose isn't even close to the belt! I tell you, it's always something with these cars! But I still love 'em! You know, part of my problem is I'm not completely happy with something until it's better than new! Hopefully I'm getting closer!
