Thinking about restoring my emblems on the Silv. Ann. and am contemplating how i'm going to do a neat job of getting the paint into the flags.

I notice the red color on the left flag is not a true red. It doesn't have a bright hue to it....more like a southwest red or "indian red".

Anybody have a line on this paint or how one would restore these little jewels?

I've heard of some folks using the enamel paint at the auto shops (comes in a small bottle with a brush or pen point)......see if you can match the color with those.

I have used model car paint before on these emblems. It needs to be thinned out a bit first, tho. Once that paint is completely dried, you can shoot a coat or two of clear over it. When the clear is almost completely dry, take a razor blade, and lightly scrape the clear off of the chrome part of the emblem. It works pretty well. You can mix/match the paint to get the color you want fairly easily. I have about 200 small bottles of model car paints("Model Masters", and "Testors"). There just ain't no limit to the colors you can come up with like that!
I don't know of any specific place that has the "correct" paint for the emblems, but I bet there is one somewhere.

A side-bar to previous post.....

When I bought my car three months ago, an assembly manual was included with the car. It's from Mid America and if it's their original material (not pirated) it's of dang poor quality......which brings me to the point.

I may be removing, restoring, and re-sticking the emblems on my car so I thought I had better see what the manual said about this.

Problem...All of this information is on page 119 and the top half of the page is only half copied and faded. I need to know the 1st chapter A,B,C,D and 3rd chapter A & B.

This page is called "Emblem installation and testing procedures"

If there is anyone else that has one of these Mid America manuals with un-readable pages please let me know and I just might give Mid America a call. The quality of this manual is disgraceful.

Keep Smiling....Jayare

It ain't gonna be easy I reccon.....but, if it was easy, it would't be so much fun........Huh, Did I just say that? It's getting late.

The BIG question here is why Joel has 200 little bottles of paint??

My AIM is from Corvette America and is pretty good. Here and there are some light but readable pages. Page 119 is nice and sharp. If ya want to PM me your email I'll send ya that page.  Mike

Vette(s): had a really nice one. sold it to a good friend. Purchased 2004 custom coupe in Feb. 2009 did not tell anyone here until August 2009. BAD I KNOW.
1st of all the little bottles of paint are from joel's days of being the very first texan tagger, it was only after "big J with little brush", started painting the town that people got the idea to use spray paint.
Have you looked into purchasing emblems, ebay, swap meets, junk yards.
You can pick up an assembly and shop manual on ebay and at any corvette parts house. Good luck.
Larry

I have a NOS emblem for the front that I found for 20 bucks and the rest of them just need cleaned up the paint freshened.

I'm semi-retired and love little projects that are not on the "honey-do" list.

Mike,

Would you mind sending it to me, too?  My emblems are in a sad state!  I just got my guinea pig emblem in the mail today.  I was wondering the same things as Jayare.
