Hi,

We have to put the 77 Vette back up on jacks in order to rework out a problem in the rear suspension. Should not be up there long.

My question is this:

Can I just put it up on stands in the back? Or do I also have to put up the front end?

Last thing that I want to do is crack my fiberglass.

Thanx!

You can raise only one end of the car with no worries...

Thank you for your answers.

It's good to know that I can raise up the back end in jacks without any concern to cracking the fiberglass. I will make sure that the front tires are secure.

I thought that I would have my car up and about this weekend. Yesterday I had it at the shop to have the alignment done. The very last thing. My mechanic called and said that the rear tires have about an inch worth of slack in them! I was shocked since when the rear end suspension was rebuild the spindles were pressed in tight using the special spindle tools. They were very tight.  Then I heard that those tools even though you think everything is correct don't always work well. You think that you have the spindles pressed in all the way and you don't.

Since I had the car hauled by flatbed tow truck I'm hoping that no damage was done. I don't hear
any bad noises  coming from the rear end.   I'm also hoping that when the car was set down on it's wheels from  the jacks that perhaps the spindles sort of settled in a good way and that if we take off the rear tires we  can just tighten things down and all will be well. When you move the wheels it feels like the spindles are loose and not seized in anyway.

Everything else works great on the car and this is the only hold up and it just kills us.  If the spindles are ruined then I might have to store it away and have the work done next spring by a professional. I have gone over budget with this car as it is and I will need to save up for this repair.

Anyway thank you for the jack advice.

But I love this car and the "DEMON" will be driven one day. It's just so frustrating. It sounds great with the now 350+ horses under the hood.
