Sarge,
Thanks for the words.
No, I didn't. That's a good idea. Didn't think of it. I am in negotiations with the insurnce company right now. Initial go around was depressing as you can imagine. Not looking to get rich off this. Just want my car repaired and back on the road without spending money out of my pocket.

Man getting hit like that really sucks! You couldn't even take evasive action. I'm sorry for your bad luck, but I'm glad you are okay. Did you at least get to kick the guy a couple of times before the cops got there?
Also, ditto on the guy who asked if your car was appraised. It's a good idea to get an appraisal every four or five years. The value of these cars go up every year. I just had mine appraised and the value was listed at $35,000.00. My insurance company had it listed at $21,000.00. It's worth the $150.00 to get it done.

Hang in there.
Kevin

Hank, take it from someone who's been in a couple of serious accidents albiet not in my vette. First off be grateful that the other guy has insurance. If you feel that the insurance company's trying to screw you around, they are. They are in the business of charging high rates and settling low dollar claims. If you are feeling overwhelmed please contact a lawyer. Even just the mention of calling one will usually make the adjuster for the insurance companies a little more generous. Some times you need to play hard ball with these people, and an attorney works for you. Good Luck, Andy |cool|

hey guys, thanks for all the words of encouragement and advice. glad I found this registry.
was waiting to finalize the settlement before I got back to you. the insurance company strung me out longer than I thought they would. we settled yesterday. well I have good news. they agreed to fix all the mechanical and paint the entire car, not just the back half as in their initial offer. I'm satisfied and happy with that.
once again guys, thanks for your support.

my ins co, State Farm, wasn't involved.
his companie's ins co, he is a saleman for Graybar and was working at the time, Nationwide is represented by Gallagher Basset a tpa.
the guy who hit me claimed his brakes failed. he was driving a 2001 Taurus. I didn't believe him. I think he was possibly distracted on a cell.
I think they were waitng for the police report on the brakes before they decided on what to settle for. My guess is that they just received it and found out the brakes were working properly. they were probably happy to settle for what they did.
