Vette(s): Just finished 2 years of Blood, Sweat, & Tears restoring my 69 Coupe. Crimsom Red, 427, vacuum removed, Shot of Steeroids, Killer Lights, 5 Speed, still working on small things but she is back on the road.
I have decided to replace my vacuum headlights with the electric approach as explained by Chris McDonald on his sight item titled "Killer Headlights". I also saw a couple of articles in various magazines detailing and suggesting improvements. Has anyone done this or know someone that has done this conversion? I met Chris a couple of weeks ago at a show in Orlando. He was really helpful and gave a lot of ideas and advise. He showed them and they really worked great and his installation looked clean.
Thanks,
Jim

I haven't done this but it sounds interesting. Do they have a web site?

I dont know why my links are not working any more, they used too before. Anyways this is the guy you need to talk to.

Replace the U (which is for underlining text) with URL to make the text a 'hot' link (http://www.mcspeed.homestead.com/Our_Products.html).
Met Chris (and Nikki) at the 50th celebration last year and saw the headlight conversion on 'Killer'. It is a nifty setup and certainly looks to be less of a headache than the stock vacuum system.

Anything, but Stock and more mods to come!
SSBC Force 10 Brakes, 3.73, TH350, 355 CID, Rack and Pinion, Vette Brakes suspension front and rear.
I have them, because I wrote the article that just came out in Corvette Enthusiast. Do the swap you won't regret it.

Thanks, I ordered the parts yesterday. Great article with some new ideas how to improve on the installation.

Thats right your in control of how the install will look and what the final project will look like. I tried to show how to make the install look factory and clean on a budget.
Finding the parts to do the swap took some time and patience, but I snagged them for next to nothing. Took me about a month to round everything up, and about 50 emails to various people on those F-body websites to find the right parts with the right people that i was comfortable working with.

Well written article. I just finished this morning. Almost makes me want to do the same to my 70. My headlights do work fine though. I have rebuilt my control relays and actuators and all hold vacuum good. The only thing I don't like about the original stuff is all of the vacuum lines. Matt, do you have any pics of the car where the vacuum lines were? $590 for the whole conversion was not too bad.

Actually the 590 is if you buy the new forward harness. Most can do it for around the 300. I'm not sure what you are acking, When you say show where the vacuum lines were? Are you asking about their routing? If you look in the article their is a drawing that shows where all vacuum lines run. I tried to show people what lines to remove or could be eliminated if they installed this system.
I would say if your system is working fine, not to bother with the change. Personally I needed to go there, because I really wanted to step up to a bigger cam and with that comes poor engine vacuum.
