Does anybody know how many were made and maybe what colors. I found an OLD model kit of the 68 L88 when I was cleaning out the closet. I want to build it useing a factory color. Thanks.

According to the Corvette Black Book, 80 L88s were made in 1968. There's really no way to know what colors they were, but it's a safe bet that there's at least one in each of the 10 colors offered that year.   There's also no way to know how many were coups and how many were converts. I'mma tinkin it be a safe bet that MOST L88s were coupes!

There were 20 in '67, 80 in '68, and 116 in '69.
Black, Red, Green, and White seems to be the most popular colors on them. Black is the best...it looks so MEAN!

Not all that safe.  L88s had to be ordered and some probably left St. Louis in primer.

Acualy there were quit a Few L-88 Converts. The Road Racers had figured out by then that a Convert with the Hard Top is more Aerodynamic than a Coupe. So they were Ordered as Hardtop Only Cars. Richard....

Records show only 1 '68 left the factory with "Spec", or primer paint...

Yeah, some of them were convertibles, I didn't mean to imply they were all coupes...prolly split half & half, or close to it. Only 20 of them, so...
Of the two '69 ZL1s, one was a coupe one was a convertible w/auto trans. The convertible is owned by one of the Registry members, John73. So, they were available in either body style...

Here's a link to the James Garner cars.  Neat stuff.

Zgator:  you would be correct with any 68 factory color.

Well it takes a long time built one of these things. The paint formula they use now it takes about two weeks to gas out enough so you can start putting it together so while you wait on the paint you can get some of the sub assy.'s ready and if you are like me I have a short attention span so I end up not working on it for a few days then I'll do a little more but ib the end they turn real good. I order rims and tires from thie online supply place. I can get red lines, blue streaks any kind of white wall and all kinds of rims deep dise cragers and the old american rims done in resin.I've got a box full. Cheater slicks too.I'll find the right combo. Maybe wide whites and wire rims. The wide whites have to be real narrow!!!!!. But I think it will look nice in black. I ordered some matllic black so I'll use that. The interior I'm not sure yet. maybe saddle or white. I aint doing black on black. The kit comes with both tops.I know I'll tape off the fender gills and paint the insides silver. If antbody has any ideas let'm rip. Yesterday I got the REAL decals for my Sox & Martin Cuda. Thats going to be a job with that paint job!!!!
