Steve,
I will definitely post the pictures once I get it installed. Speaking of pictures, how do attach a photo of the car to your regular posting such as the setup you have. I have tried various ways via the help guide here under forum signitures - but no luck - keep getting error messages, guess I am more mechanically inclinded than I.T. savey. I had no problem attaching the gas cap photo for the begining of this string but can not figure the "profile -signiture -photo thing out.......

Thanks again for th lead on the cap - now I just have to make it look good and function - hopefully this weekend.

Thanks for the welcome,
I appreciate a site where you gather helpful information and experience from fellow owners, especially when tring to maintain or restore one of these older versions.
My wife refers to my 69 as the Great Pumpkin - as she is not real happy about the Orange color nor the time I have spent on it over the past 4 months working out some bugs and other bigger issues since buying it off e-bay. Now it runs great and turns a lot of heads - much more fun to drive than our C-4.
Looking forward to possibly meeting a few of the members at various effents in th eastern half of the US.

I'm definitely looking forward to any pictures or "How-to" info you can provide on your installation. I was thinking of doing the same on my LT-1. Let us know if it works out for you, and just how "painfull" it was to install. Thanks!
Well believe it or not I run into a rather Large snag in my plans for installing the cap assembly this weekend - it appears from several internet sources that the supplier ( Scott Drake Enterprises) of the Cap that I was planning on using for this project, no longer has them in stock and does not know when any back orders on the item will be filled to its dealer network - so that does not sound real encouraging and has me back on the the hunt for another source for the LeMans cap assembly with 5.6" diameter flange base.
Will keep you infomed as to my progress with all the issues related to this project

HEY JIMMY, LOOKING TO GET ONE OF THOSE CAPS MYSELF. i LIKE THE LEMANS . I THINK THAT IS THE STYLE THAT MOTION PERFORMANCE PUT ON THEIR CUSTOMS. ANYWAY I CHECKED WITH MY LOCAL PERFORMANCE SHOP WHO TOLD ME THEY CAN GET THEM. CHECK WITH YOURS IF YOU HAVE ONE LOCAL, I`LL CHECK BACK WITH THEM AND SEE IF I CAN FIND OUT WHO THE MANUFACTURER IS. BOB
Thanks Bob let me know wat you find in terms of details from your local guys and I believe you are correct on tshes being fitted on the Motion design.
I found a source for GT40 Caps that would definitely work but I am not so sold on the design - what do you think in comparison to the Lemans?
It would definitely cover the existing fuel door hole as this measures 6 inches in diameter but it does not have quite the same rounded look of the LeMans Style. Too many descisions.....
For thoses who had asked, here is an update on the Roller Gas Cap project for my 69. This is just a test fit, as you can see the holes are not drilled yet but the fit to where the original fuel door is located is just about perfect. I found a machine shop in Tennessee that at produces these for GT40 replacements.

Plus I think I am finally getting this picture posting program down.......

Gene,
Here is the Link to there site with prices and I ordered the the unit with the locking insert just to check it but it is not needed as the Cap and ring are large enough for you to reach in and remove your existing cap from its stock location.
I bought the additional items because I was not sure of the exact fitment since buying it sort of buying it sight unseen or untouched to be exact.
The owner, Joel did indicate that if guys wanted to get together and place an order for multiple units that he could work something off the price as I mentioned that there might be interest.
Glad you like it
Jim
