1st thing thanks to all who helped answer my wiring questions and thanks for the wiring diagram (Adams Apple). After taking the last 2 weeks to run through the 1977 wiring, ignition and motor, I have come to the conclusion that in order for me to fill comfortable driving the car i need to make corrections. I have 2 good things going for me right now and that is the motor/tranny and the body are excellent. The rest is out of the car. This past weekend after going through the wiring diagrams I started to find alot of Mickey Mouse stuff that i just dont trust. Ive decided to purchase a new wiring harness, fuse box and the rest of the bells and whistles. I also figure that since all the wiring is going to be out of the engine compartment I may as well finish that also, one more to do thing off the list of many. As i go along i am going to keep posting (along with photos) so that it may help someone else with the same questions i have had. Stay tuned, my goal is 60 days...OH BOY!!!

EdgewaterEd, good luck I did mine it was easier than you would think. AIM helps too but GM was pretty smart in designing wiring using color codes and combinations for wire. AIM tells you were the wire (plus color/combination color) goes to. But also many of the dash panels on the back side tell (stamped in medal) what wire color or color combination plugs in where (gauges mostly). At least mine did. The hardest part is unplugging the harness at the fuse box, remember there is a bolt holding it together. Just FYI let use know how it goes. Good luck

Man I will be watchin & readin the stuff you post! I don't think you can ever know enough about all of the quirky electrical stuff that can go belly up on a car. Let alone a plastic one at that!!!
... AIM helps too...
Amen to that. If you do not already have the AIM, my advice is to purchase one.
If you're already under the hood, I would go ahead and purchase a replacement vacuum hose kit and do those while you're replacing engine and forward lamp harnesses.
And, yes, this is one of those knucklehead things, but disconnect the battery cables.

What does AIM stand for or what is it and where or who do you get/buy it from.
A question for anyone... has anyone ever moved their fuse box to another location in the car. Im seriously thinking of installing my new one in the compartment behind the passenger seat. I pulled my harness out of the box last night and i can definitly make it fit with out a problem.
Thanks for all the replys, keep them coming, you all are better than the library, i truly appericate it. I will be posting pictures this weekend or as soon as my membership is all set up. STAY TUNED, ITS GOING TO GET INTERESTING
